combo square/saw?

Adam Szabo said: "To me they sound like some normal detuned saws, with lots of chords, and EQd to remove some frequencies and thats why they sound interesting"

but how I can do that? Any proposition?

-greets! :D

good idea, we've actually never covered this topic!

everytime who started with some question about pluck/chords/edx style -the answers saids: 'eee', 'uhhmm', 'eeee', 'a square?' 'saw?' 'something like that', and the topic was ended :(

Stack Saw waves (2 or more).. add triangle if you would like more full/bass added.. or add square if you like.

- Detune each osc to get a fatter sound
- Add Unison/Voices if your synth offers it
- Turn Attack:0 Decay: 25%-50% (Drag up slowly till you get a pluck) Sustain:0% Release:0%
- Filter: LP and cut it right down to like 25%

Then if you want the nice progressive opening like all artists use... Slowly raise the release/open the filter

Use 8th Notes with some delay (8th-8th panned).

- Spread the sound

Tell me which Synth you are using and i can give you better instructions for that synth
simple yet complex

I've got a different way, it's better to get a good climax I think.

This is in sylenth1, I think one of the best vst's.

- 3 or 2 osc
-osc1: Saw Wave 6 voices
about 40% Detuned
Retrig Off, I dont know how it's called in other vst :hihi:
-osc2: Saw Wave 8 voices
about 15% Detuned
Retrig Off
Octave: -1
(-osc3): Saw Wave 8 voices
about 40% Detuned
Retrig Off

0% Attack
0% Decay
100% Sustain
30% Release, but this is your choice.

Lowpass Filter Cutoff about 150 hz
Then you can adjust the sound with the filter control/frequency.

Then a modulation envelope:

attack 0%
decay 40%
sustain 0%
release 20%

This is a good pluck sound I thinks.

I got some good selfmade presets for Sylenth1, you guys can PM me;)

I have Sylenth1, but can be massive or something [I heard, fruity "Harmless" have good detune] ...and all of the people said, EDX sounds have lots of harmonics ? harmonics... I must read more art. about harmonics. (edit: just right EQ'uing)

I do something like this
