It's not just my lot who are suffering, Dexter and Jimmy from next door seem to have it as well. I hadn't seen Dexter for around 36 hours before he appeared thro' the flap yesterday afternoon, I assumed they'd seen he was off colour and had just kept him in, anyhow, he had a sneezing fit here the likes of which I've never seen before. I don't know how many times he'd sneezed before starting counting but I stopped at 21 and more than likely missed about 10.

An hour to go before Bosleys vet appt and the little sod was demanding I play with him and the feather toy in the hall before begging more food then dashing upstairs to finish the cat milk he'd left earlier. He looks a picture of health right now, beyond a bit of sniffling, but he's still going as they can take his temperature which at least will show if he still has a fever or not.

I'm pleased to say Bosley is fine Very Happy pretty much back to full health now and will be once the sniffling finally stops. He'd improved so much I had considered cancelling the vet appt but I'm glad I didn't if only for my own peace of mind. He behaved like a total gent till the vet came to take his temperature, Bosley can be loud when he puts his mind to it and let everyone at the vets know he wasn't impressed at having a thermometer shoved up his arse Laughing The downside is I've discovered he has a heart murmur, nothing major but it's as well to be aware of these things.

Sad Sad Sad

My parents are putting one of their cats down at 5pm today. Sad

He's developed either some disease or cancer, but the vet is not sure which yet.

Frankie hasn't been himself lately. It used to be that if he was outside and wanted to use the litter box, he would literally beg to come inside to use the box. He wouldn't do his business outside. Now, he won't use his litter box and will only try to go outside (or in the middle of the night, my parents' front foyer).

It also used to be his mission to escape their yard. He would jump a six-foot high fence to get out. Now, when he goes outside, he sits.

My dad says that he's just not there anymore, and he's no longer Frankie. Sad

He's also lost a ton of weight, and he sometimes has a hard time standing.

He's 11 years old.

Sad Sad Sad

I'm wondering if the little one did not end up with some kind of a kidney issue... Confused

That sucked. Sad

They had to give him a sedative before euthanasia because he REALLY didn't want to be there, but after that he became VERY mellow. Then they gave him "the shot", and it was all over within seconds. Sad

We went out for an "Irish Wake" afterward. Nice meal with family, reminiscing about Frankie.

I held it together at the vets, but I'm sure it will hit me soon. Sad

Goodbye Frank Sinatra. Hug

Yup. It hit.

Neither Mark nor I could sleep last night. At least, not until really really late. We even went to bed early.

I asked Mark to call in to work and take a personal day, but he said he needed to go do something that apparently no other person there has the capability of doing. Mad

Obviously Frank is still weighing heavily on my mind. My brother was a mess yesterday. The last pic I posted of Frankie was taken by my brother yesterday while they were outside saying their goodbyes. He couldn't go to the vet with us, and I don't blame him. He wanted to remember frank the way he was, not laying on a vet table like that.

My brother David was very close to Frank. Frankie would sleep in his room whenever he got the chance. David could do anything with that cat. He absolutely loved David.

I tried to call my dad this morning to see how he was doing, but he'd already left for his lunch with the guys from the airport. I didn't want to call him on his cell phone if he was with them.

Somehow my dad can hold it together like no one else. It was the same when his favorite aunt died. He stayed calm and cool the entire time, taking care of whatever business needed to be taken care of. I'm afraid he might think it a weakness to cry or show emotions like that. Sad That's why I wanted to talk to him while he was still home alone.

I hope their other cat, Trouble, didn't catch the same disease if that's what it was.

I didn't see Frankie every day, but I miss him terribly. Sad
