Cable needed

Hi guys,
I'm having trouble locating a particular type of audio cable I need for a project. it's pretty simple, but I can't locate any type of keyword to help me.
I require a cable that is 3.5mm audio jack at either end. However, I need the cable to carry both input (microphone) and output (stereo audio). For example, hands free connectors for smart phones are able to carry microphone data into the device as well as pump stereo data out to the headset. I need a cable that does this at both ends.
Does it exist?
if not, I am open to other suggestions; I simply need to be able to carry input and output audio data between two 3.5mm ports.
Many thanks,
P

Try adding the keywords iphone and maybe "4 conductor" (in quotation marks) to your search. You might have to splice two extension cords together, or solder connectors onto some wire (if you can find the connectors).

Wouldn't that make it a mixer? Whoa, never heard of those.

@RBR: I don't know, sounds to me as if the OP just wants to connect a sender and a receiver, not have a splitter. *shrug*
@protected: Can you make a little diagram of what you want? Even one in text, using keyboard characters, would do.

I think he said-one input of whatever type for a mike and one input jack for an audio stream, then one main output jack converter.
Or does he just want 2 inputs routed to one output?

I was thinking a cable with one of the middle plug ("iPhone headphone") on each end:

Guess the OP will have to say just what's needed.

Thanks for the replies... and the sarcasm...
I *think* I need a male 4 pole 3.5mm jack at either end.
I need to connect two mobile devices via their audio ports. I need to be able to play audio on one device and record on the other (and vice versa) through said cable.
Sarcasm aside... would the 4 pole 3.5mm jack cable do the job?

Probably that won't work. Me thinks such cables are wired simply with tip to tip etc. You want the audio out to be connected to mic input of the other. That requires cutting the cable and rearranging what wire goes where.
Two problems there:
1) feeding a signal designed for headphones into a mic input is a bad idea in general. Volume is too high (will distort/clip) and the impedance is probably off.
2) the mic input is only mono, while you have a stereo output.
Why not render files on the devices and send them over?
