antto,
why not release a beta version without the distortion first? |

the distortion is already coded, there are about 9 or 10 different algos and 4-5 params which just lack labels and proper gui..
i'm working on the final peice of the sequencer puzzle - track mode i have a better understanding of the whole TB-303 sequencer now, like which buttons are used where, and how much memory it needs to store (that knowlage is good for later, when i'll be implementing these things in the x0xb0x firmware) some of the dist types: http://soundcloud.com/antto/vb303-2012-newdist-001 decimator with adjustable amount of peak follower which can modulate the decimator frequency (and creates the weird drum-like effect on accented notes) http://soundcloud.com/antto/vb303-2012-newdist-002 ---- It doesn't matter how it sounds.. ..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD! |

This plugin sounds great, is it possible to add skin support in a future version?
At least one additional skin with double the size of the original would be great because for me the buttons are a bit tiny. |

that wouldn't help you much because the button area
is already defined. skin support would be a great idea, but the new skin already looks pretty cool. that waveform button is a bit of a 'drag': you have to drag it sideways, but that's just the way it is for that version. you get used to it...it is such a great plugin, you'll forget about it. |

the "hit area" of the buttons is much larger than you'd think
but this isn't even important since you shouldn't use the mouse to press them at all (midi notes instead) as for the waveform switch, it also has a large hit area, and it uses a special module which controls mouse sensitivity, so it's not like in beta1/2 .. it switches very easily now same goes for the BANK/MODE selectors ---- It doesn't matter how it sounds.. ..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD! |

Yes that's really sounding good!
I know it's a difficult question to answer, but as you seem to really be getting to something stable, do you have in mind how long it might take before this becomes a v1.0? |

i was hoping for december, but some complications occured as you know
so if it's not this month (january), probably in the next few months i will leave some of the things undone (like the pattern manipulators, which are now broken and need a serious fix or a complete rewrite) will have to fix them in a following version, and by that time some other bug reports would have piled up too.. but at least the most important parts of the sequencer are there - pattern write/play, track write/play modes memory import/export, pattern import/export i'd like to finish my polysynth project after that (which won't require so much work) and also work on the new x0xb0x cpu (firmware and bootloader stuff) ---- It doesn't matter how it sounds.. ..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD! |

pattern manipulators? does this mean you'll leave out
the selective randomizing? it is one of the great features of current beta. |

the pattern manipulators in the new sequencer are much more advanced
but now some of them are broken due to the changes i had to make to the internal pattern handling (which was wrong, compared to the 303) i won't remove them, but their behaviour is undefined basically, those manipulators that generate random values will still work those that reorder existing data will potentially mix up some "notes" which aren't part of the patterns (so that's technically not how they should work) those that shift back/forward existing data will also potentially mix up some notes which shouldn't be there grrr.. so i'd have to rewrite them.. but i'll leave it for a following version ---- It doesn't matter how it sounds.. ..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD! |

ah? this isn't going to be the 'definitive' version, then..
so we'll be getting another beta!(a chance to put in requests, fixes, etc.?) |

well i don't know whether it should be called beta or not, since it's not payware
to keep it simple, it'll be v1.0 and the following release would be v1.01 or something like that ---- It doesn't matter how it sounds.. ..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD! |
