Sorry for my bad joke, it was a lie of course. I didn't follow this thread, but are there a lot of vegetarians or even vegans around here? |

probably not a lot, but there are some. anyway, im sure cat and dog DNA will be turning up in cheap mince and burgers over here any day now... (Although Im a vegetarian myself, I am a bit amused about all the fuss in the news over horse DNA in beef; surely Monsanto already have patents on that?) ---- To laymen, software development is something akin to wizardry. Hey Rabbyt, nice to read you. Right now i wonder what difference it makes if one eats cat, horse, pig, dog or cow, once it tastes good. I'll probably never know. |

Right now i wonder what difference it makes if one eats cat, horse, pig, dog or cow, once it tastes good. I'll probably never know. its mostly cultural, really. some animals are 'meat animals', some are 'animals you wouldnt want to eat' (like, say worms, or snakes would be for most of us) , and some are 'pets', and the lines between them change from country to country, and even over time. it is all pretty arbitrary. im only a vegetarian because they wont let me hunt and eat other people. ---- To laymen, software development is something akin to wizardry. I'm a veggie sind 11 months now. Before that i said "Cat? Sweet! Pig? Yummy!". This changed drastically, as i can't make any difference anymore and I like it this way. And if I'd go for a pet, I'd go for a pig. |

And if I'd go for a pet, I'd go for a pig. I stopped a long time ago, 25 years now, but it was one of the best things I did regarding food. Actually learned to cook, rather than just heating stuff up. I think its easier to be one here now than it was 20 years ago (far less of the 'but I know someone who's a vegetarian and they eat chicken/fish/veal' crap from restaurant staff, and more options. Never regretted it. ---- To laymen, software development is something akin to wizardry. Neither time, nor effort are involved.
