It's always been like this since I installed it a few months ago, but it seems to be getting even worse. I have my hard drive set to defragment once a week or something like that.. so that's not it. Is there some strange bug in the way bootcamp handles stuff? Anyone else had this trouble?

Hi there. I have this strange problem with my mac pro. Although win7 is installed on a seperate 256 GB, 7200 rpm drive.. It's takes forever pulling up files. Often when I open a folder, I just have to sit there and wait 10 seconds just for its contents to show up.. what the hell? This happens in windows explorer and in file browsers within programs (FL studio). just opening a vst can take 10-20 seconds, and opening up a project can take ages.

Sounds like an issue with the drive controller drivers for the motherboard. Like they're running in a legacy mode or something slow.

Wonder if it's a physical problem with the drive. I'd be curious to the the SMART counters on the drive to see if errors are increasing rapidly or not. Could be corrupt driver, bad cable, bad power source, or bad adapter on motherboard too.

thanks for taking a stab guys.
The thing is, before I had windows 7, I had xp on there for the longest time and this never happened. I reckon it must be something to do with windows 7. Strange. Just to make sure it's not the drive itself, I will boot in OS x and see if the access speed is normal or not.
