I love the modulated delays on the piano. It's just before bedtime here and these sounds have a very calming, soporific effect. Later on we have what appear to be glitched seagulls before what sounds like a maritime horn conversation. It all fits together to form a piece of music that is translucent in character. Things may not be what they seem. Mysterious title/photo combo too.
Good work

Superb tunes Matt, I love the piano on threshold. The groove in chutney is amazing. Thanks for sharing these

So I just played Threshold. That is a satifyingly creepy tune. It would make a great piece of OST music in one of those classy, cerebral period horror movies, in a scene where the heroes are heading towards their date with uncertain destiny. I liked the scratched LP effect. Was that you on the vox

I enjoyed all three, but the first part of Threshold is especially good. Thanks, polyslax.

Thank you both, gents!
Glad the creepiness came across for you Tim. The LP scratch was a side effect from running one of the tracks through Permut8. The voice... no, not me. It's a recording of my brother in law's mother, done when she was 12 in the 30s or 40s. Here she's pitched down, but I've used her voice before at regular pitch, though heavily manipulated:
I Miss You
She doesn't actually say I miss you in the recording I used... it's just the way the loop was made that makes it sound like it. I have several recordings of classic songs by her, so I'm sure she'll be back at some point!

Amalgum is fitting the mood here on a gloomy yet serene morning.
Listened to Amalgum. The randomness of the delay on the piano is works really well. Reminds of something you'd hear on sleepbot.

I like 'Amalgum'. Reminds me of the hall/verb Weather Report recorded the tune 'Jungle Book'. Off to listen to the others.
- Threshold - Liked it.I've heard that theme in some movie..I recognize it. I like this just the same.
