sure Blue Steels but have a short life, resistance and corrode immediately... I usually have a loud picking right hand (as Stevie Ray Vaughan)
instead like a lot blue steel on semi-acoustic\hollow body guitars... silky and warmy, optimal for pop rhythms

can't quite remember why I wanted an acoustic bass in the first place but I've learned to really love it. Cheap, cheap, cheap model from China. I like to mix both a dynamic mic(sm beta 57a) and the piezo(with amp sim & processing) for really freakin large sound

My tech put flatwounds on it b/c I kept squeeking(like crazy) between notes

If you can love it then that's all that matters. I've been thinking of picking up a u-bass for the last couple of years. I just can't take the plunge.

sweet, reminds me of older Epiphone El Capitan acoustic basses, I use to love to mess around them when I sold them...an acoustic bass is really pretty cool :)

Those brass barrel bridges have a different tone. I use the offset Barden brass saddles, they give the sound of brass without sacrificing intonation. They'd be an easy and cheap retrofit to Mr. Natural's new baby.

thanks fellas - just plugged it in tonight & messing around - color me happy

the bridge I chose was a Wilkinson compensated with brass saddles & it sounds pretty spanky. My initial impression is that I'm gonna use the tone roll-off control on this instrument more than I ever need to on the strat or the Parker

Interesting, I would think the Lace would be a lot darker than a strat bridge. btw, in the picture, it looks more like a Gold or Silver than a Red.

You've got a working class hero there with a very wide range of sound between those two pickups. I'm sure it will be a blast to play.

Re lace sensors.
I never thought of the gold lace sensors on my strat as being that special though I used to get a lot of compliments on them. I've always wanted to replace them with vintage tex mex. That's changed after aquiring my yamaha thr10c amp. Of all the amp sim systems I've had through the years this comes closet to the truth. Playing the strat through the amp I appreciate the tone of the lace sensors more.

Re tone roll off.
Honestly my tele (blactop) aint near as bright as most. It's more throaty then twangy. The humbuckers are just plain throatier/punchier.

Yeah, that sounds like a good combo. I think the smooth sound of the Gold Lace Sensors works better with distortion than the brighter tone of traditional single coils, especially through a great but relatively edgy amp like the THR10. My strat with the Fender Vintage Noiseless in the bridge is my favorite guitar for singing leads and it's precisely because it doesn't have an accurate single coil sound that makes it that way.

That's the pickups. The twang and brightness comes from the traditional tele single coil with the heavy base plate.

it's funny : I never use my tone(or volume) controls on my strat but with this new Tele, they're all over the place this morning while practicing. Including some really interesting muted "jazz" tones.

That's what I'm after with mine and keep talking about putting el-rayo's for that Ted Greene / Ed Bickert tone.
I'm actually spot on with the Ed Bickert tone now.

The Ted Greene tones are'nt quite there,

Barney Kessel's guitar had large single coils that were not p-90's and very similar to jazzmaster pickups.

Notice how his sounds are much more warmer then his contemporaries (kenny burrel. Herb Ellis) though the body shape (175) is similar to theirs. Otherwise one would have to move up to a bigger box like an L5 (Wes Montgomery) to attain that level of warmth.
