It doesn't need to be registered. Z3ta doesn't use C/R.

I vaguely remember that you had to register Z3ta2 to get a (permanent) key. But I don't think that was the case for v1 CM...

Yes, you'd have to make sure before buying that they hadn't registered the Z3TA+ code.
