Blue Cat's PatchWork 1.4 is here!

We have just released an update for Blue Cat's PatchWork, adding new features and compatibility improvements to our "universal plug-ins patch bay" plug-in.

Blue Cat's PatchWork 1.4 now includes MIDI channel filtering for hosted VST or Audio Unit plug-ins, parallel processing chains improvements (selectable summing mode and solo buttons), and several compatibility improvements on Mac. (full list below).

The update is free for existing customers and is available for download from the same page as the initial purchase (link received by email). Demo versions can also be downloaded on http://www.bluecataudio.com, in VST, RTAS, AAX, Audio Unit and DirectX formats, for both Mac and PC (32 and 64-bit).

New Features:
- Selectable parallel processing chains summing mode: sum or average.
- Solo button for parallel chains.
- MIDI Channel filtering for each plug-in input.
Fixes and compatibility improvements:
- Fixed undo/redo incompatibilities with some plug-ins.
- (Mac) Fixed crash introduced in 1.3 when trying to load missing VST plug-ins.
- (Mac) Fixed wrong plug-in instantiated in some cases when selected from a VST shell package.
- (Mac) Fixed crash after closing the editor of an Audio Unit plug-in loaded with SoundRadix's 32Lives.

More details about the new features are available on our blog.

Enjoy!

I'm not sure I've understood anything in this topic yet, so I'll just ask; sorry if this has already been answered!

Is there a way to set up MIDI Through for Patchwork when running as an AU MIDI FX in Logic? I want to play instruments on tracks for which Patchwork is sending only CC data from vsts. In other MIDI FX I have, this is achieved with a MIDI Through button or setting. Is this possible in Patchwork? TIA!

EDIT: Well, I found at least one way, maybe it's THE way? I loaded another instance of Patchwork inside the first, in the right-hand slot 1:2 (with my original MIDI FX vst still in slot 1:1), set it up as if I'd load another MIDI FX in it, but didn't, instead just turned it off, which is what I need to do in the enclosing instance to get MIDI to pass through. Worked:)

Still, would love to hear if this IS the way, or just one of several…? Thanks again, IA.

That's indeed a good way to implement MIDI thru: load a VST that does not affect the MIDI events and assign its output to the host: it will transmit the MIDI data to the host port without modifying it. Bypassing an effect should indeed produce the expected result, whatever it is supposed to do in the first place.
