Hi all,

First up, I hope that I am posting this in the correct forum. This one seemed the only choice to post this in. Please point me to the right place if it isn't.

I'm in the process of developing a VST instrument, so far it is sounding pretty good and has quite a bit of sound sculpting potential. And so I have started thinking that maybe I could offer it for sale. My only problem is that I am not really sure where to start or exactly how to go about it. At the moment I can't really afford to pay for a website hosting service. And I'm not setup as a company, I'm just an individual and do all the work myself.

Is there a U.S. based web community that could/would handle the sales, for a small fee of course, that I could potentially send the Instrument to and offer it for sale?

Are the any issues or concerns that I should be aware of?

Just so everyone knows, the instrument is not really complete just yet. But it is getting close to that point, probably a month or two away from even being ready to be offered. Thanks in advance to anyone that might point me in the right direction.

While I can't answer your question, I can reassure you you've come to the right place.

There's a wealth of information here in particular:

"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Maybe something like Plugin Boutique?

You could also use Jimdo to create a small free website or you could make a Wordpress blog (they're offering free websites, too)!

DPD offer website + web cart functionality for people who don't want to develop and maintain their own site:

https://getdpd.com

It's a pretty good service. You'll need your own domain name. I'm sure there are others, that's one I'm familiar with.

Peace,
Andy.

Thanks everyone, I'll check in to these and do a little more research. At least now I have a starting point to go from.

I find E-Junkie to be bulletproof as well.

http://www.e-junkie.com/

I pay (from memory) $5 per month as I don't sell large data packages (and most plugins are pretty small in size) and they handle all the financial transaction. I simply get an amount sent to my paypal account instantly upon each sale. They also offer a mailout/newsletter service as well which is worth it's weight in gold (I think it's one cent per email per customer).

You upload your product, price, discount codes, serial numbers etc etc and are given HTML code to paste in a buy and cart button to your website. It's both bullet and idiot proof.

The only other thing you'd need is a domain name, domain hosting (which isn't that expensive at all) and perhaps use a free wordpress template to set up a simple website. All together it'd be less than $20 per month.
