Time and motivation are still in short supply around these parts, but I'm still messing around a bit.
Been playing/patching the Nord Drum 2/Nord Pad a lot:
https://soundcloud.com/infomartian/nd2-test
https://soundcloud.com/infomartian/nd2-test-2
Aside from that I've been sucked back into patching percussion sounds on the Micromac, posted some free kicks here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=417001
and layed down some ideas, mainly sketches really, using some new and old Micromac samples in the Octatrack, some layered with Machinedrum, some layered with acoustic drums. The Biscuit, MF-102 and H9 all played parts in these tracks to some degree.
https://soundcloud.com/polyslax/they-dont-just-land
Pretty typical slax track - melancholy piano, check etc etc.
https://soundcloud.com/polyslax/live-like-a-squirrel
Trying out some different groove feels by layering electronic and acoustic drums.
https://soundcloud.com/polyslax/wants-flower
Kind of an ethno-funk vibe here.
Thanks to all who have a listen.
p.s. I'll be around by mobile only for the next week, and coverage could be sketchy...

Glad you're back.
"They Don't Just Land" is enjoyable and familiar sounding to Slaxians (your fans).
I love how "Live Like a Squirrel" starts. I thought it lost focus in the middle but started getting interesting again in the final third.
"Wants Flower" is an attractive piece. I think some kind of change midway would add more interest but it works well as it stands.

I just played ND2 Test. That sounds really good. I could imagine a lot of these sounds featuring in your future compositions. A few of of those sounds reminded me of the Simmons kit King Crimson used back in the '80s.
Good work

I listened to the three Polyslax items, but not yet the infomartian stuff. Enjoyed all three, but really like They Don't Just Land. That one's a keeper. Thanks.

I just listened to "They Don't Just Land". It's got some interesting reverb FX on the piano later in the piece. The Micromac percussion has a nice "snappy" sound, and the addition of the acoustic kit towards the end is a nice touch.

I got home from shopping earlier and found a squirrel sitting on top of the downpipe on our garage. When I saw the title of this piece I thought "so, what's the fascination with the lifestyle?"
I love the multi-rhythms at play on here, with the different drum kits and the delays on the ep. That groovy middle-section almost takes you out of downtempo altogether before the final section returns to more familiar territory. Very enjoyable.

Listened to these while walking the dog the other day using the 'Sound Cloud' app, so I couldn't leave a comment. Don't get me started...
They are all enjoyable in different ways. The first one is a typical one of your tracks which means great! 'Live like a squirrel' is also a great late night listen. The addition of acoustic drums is a worthy addition. Like the wandering electric piano. The squirrel synth at about 5mins is nice... Really like the bass and beats on 'Wants Flower'. Organ has a great vibe too!
Well done!

A flower?
This is a nice chilled groove to listen to on an overcast Sunday afternoon, waiting for the rain to stop so I can go into the garden and trim some branches which seem to have grown rather too rapidly for my taste. Nice beats and organ on here. Trillian on bass?

Ok, more or less back back online now.
Thanks all for the listens and comments, much appreciated!
The squirrel lifestyle, , yeah, I guess I was just thinking of the changes in direction in the piece and how squirrels make such rapid direction changes. .
Yup, that's Trilian's Stick on the bass and the more guitar-like part as well Tim.
