What does Audio Damage mean with 'DRM removed'?

Hello,
I see Audio Damage is updated all their releases and every update mentions: 'DRM removed'. I know DRM has something to do with copy protection but what does it do to the old installers?
I still have all old installers, is it important to update if I don't have the intention to re-install?

Someone will no doubt correct me if I've remembered wrongly, but I think that they no longer require a serial/code to work.
If you can't be bothered putting in the numbers when/if you reinstall then you might want the new installers
