When you're listening to this, try to watch out for layering. The main synth that's most audible in both examples probably shouldn't be thought of as a bass, as it's mostly mids and high frequencies; a second synth is likely providing the low frequencies. Using this method allows you much more ease and flexibility in your sound design.
So in regards to your question in it's current form: Use a sine wave.
But in regards to what might be your actual interest, you'll need to be more specific. Pick a particular lead, since those patches, in this style, tend to be complicated.
As an off-the-cuff guess, the leads in these tunes might come from a filtered saw(or multiple) run through distortion, or an amp simulator, and maybe chorus.
