Request:
Could we have a "refresh" button in the Noise Osc, when adding a sample to the User library while Serum is open this would be useful, as it is now you have to delete Serum from the DAW track and then bring it back in to see the sample which was added.

Here is a new patch combining some tubular windchimes (the tubes are 70 - 100 cm long) with 2 oscillators both playing a wavetable made from another tubular chime sample, Noise Osc frequency modulates Osc2, Modwheel conrols Noise Osc phase modulation via LFO 4 which is synced, speed adjustable via Macro, Aftertouch for detune and other stuff is also happening.
I got some crazy overloads while programming this, nearly killed my ADAMs, limiter is on the track from now on
@bitcrusher - if these overloads happen again, maybe I could send you the patch so you could have a look at it why this is occurring?

On my Mac using Live, all I have to do is close the GUI and re-open it. Doesn't that work for you?Sampleconstruct wrote:Request:

I don't think so but maybe I'm wrong, I'll check.BDeep wrote:On my Mac using Live, all I have to do is close the GUI and re-open it. Doesn't that work for you?Sampleconstruct wrote:Request:

Yes, you're right - well that's better then, so my request would be an absolute luxury one so we wouldn't even have to close the GUI at all.Sampleconstruct wrote:I don't think so but maybe I'm wrong, I'll check.BDeep wrote:On my Mac using Live, all I have to do is close the GUI and re-open it. I agree it would be a little neater, but this saves you from having to re-insert Serum all the time. In the same vein, I'd like to see one level of possible sub folders in the wavetables and noises menus, so it's easier to arrange large amounts of waves.

Yes, of course!@bitcrusher - if these overloads happen again, maybe I could send you the patch so you could have a look at it why this is occurring?
this request came up once before (can't recall if it was email or in the Serum forum) I believe the motivation for the request was similar (not realizing you can close/reopen the GUI for a folder scan) however I'm inclined to agree that it's not the most obvious or sensible way to refresh (and not the most convenient potentially, some mini hosts don't close windows, for instance). I will likely make this change in the future, offering a new menu command such as you asked, and probably no longer refresh on GUI re-open to make GUI opening even snappier.Yes, you're right - well that's better then, so my request would be an absolute luxury one so we wouldn't even have to close the GUI at all.
it's on the requests list already, I'll hold short of making promises, but there's no technical reason why it couldn't be added in the future, of course!I'd like to see one level of possible sub folders in the wavetables and noises menus, so it's easier to arrange large amounts of waves.

Cool man. I know brass patches are some of the hardest to program. As a huge brass-stab fanatic myself, I'm glad to see an accomplished sound designer taking up the challenge with Serum. My guess is that this synth would be great for synth-brass, with precise envelope control, detailed wavetables and even a sampled transient capability.Sampleconstruct wrote:Here is a new patch combining some tubular windchimes (the tubes are 70 - 100 cm long) with 2 oscillators both playing a wavetable made from another tubular chime sample, Noise Osc frequency modulates Osc2, Modwheel conrols Noise Osc phase modulation via LFO 4 which is synced, speed adjustable via Macro, Aftertouch for detune and other stuff is also happening.

Yeah, I experimented around a lot assigning inverted velocity to envelope attack time which controls volume, cutoff and some wavetable positioning, eventually I added a Macro so one can alter between softer and harder attacks (and releases), it's all about the slopes.TonyVegas wrote:Cool man. Some temposynced mayhem:
Combining a vocal gibberish sample in the Noise Osc with a vocal wavetable and some severe filter fun, some of these filter are truly dangerous

Thanks very much for the kind words.TonyVegas wrote:Wow.. that is a luscious and beautiful sound. In fact I really like a bunch of those that you've been posting. You're definitely my favorite sound designer on KVR and I'm a happy customer!

I have to say I have been really enjoying all these preset examples.
We are lucky to have a couple of the best sound designers making presets for Serum.
And the good news, each are very different and complimentary.
I will take them all please!
