Might have to investigate their solo work more. In the 80s I was right into Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Foreigner and Deep Purple so I'm already familiar with Larry's collaborative work.Full Bucket wrote: Thanks a lot, glad you like it!!!

Wow, gut the original..... sacrilegeras.s wrote:And hey crimson, are you going to gut the original now and make it a controller?
Of course I will always keep the original for old times sake. It is THE instrument that started me out with synthesizers. By the way, back then I also build a hardware 10-channel vocoder and turned an electronic doorbell into a rudimentary step sequencer that we actually used on stage I always used the hardware Ragnarök on stage with a self made fuzz-pedal, and that is the reason the software version does have a distortion build in.
However, I've actually been thinking about building a dedicated hardware controller for Ragnarök, as that would bring me full circle but I don't think I will ever find the time for that.

It would be great if someone would collect all the patches and compile them into one or more 'full' banks. Of course each and every sound designer has to give his/hers permission to include their presets.DrewDale wrote:Hearing some top patches for this synth. Perhaps a community soundbank for the next release
But on the other hand, the preset archive per instrument here on KVR works pretty nice tmo. And it takes away the hassle of keeping the compiled bank in sync with each and every preset pack's version.
But it's great to see all this stuff happening with Ragnarök

Well, you did say it doesnt work, tho to make it into a dedicated controller would prob cost a fortune.crimsonwarlock wrote: Wow, gut the original..... sacrilege

It doesn't have to work, it's a monumentKriminal wrote:Well, you did say it doesnt work, tho to make it into a dedicated controller would prob cost a fortune.crimsonwarlock wrote: Wow, gut the original..... sacrilege
But you are right on the other issue: making it into a controller would actually mean using the case and replacing all the analog electronics inside with midi-controller boards. And the software version is already a little out of sync feature-wise, so the faceplate would need replacement as well, leaving only the wooden case. So no go on that idea

I'll have to check these out when I have access to more data. I got a bonus this month (3GB instead of 2GB) and I've used most of that bonus already. 3GB sounds tiny by most broadband standards but this is a phone plan. I live on a 20 acre farm and broadband is WAY too expensive here.crimsonwarlock wrote: Oooh, you're in for a treat then

I know what you mean, same here. The Internet these days behaves as if everyone had broadband and unlimited traffic, but there are a lot of people with cellular-based access who need to think twice if watching a video is really necessary. Luckily my plan is a bit more generous than yours.AusDisciple wrote:I'll have to check these out when I have access to more data. Well yea, I wasn't all too serious about gutting the original. But a controller would be sweet, it doesn't need much more knobs/buttons than regular keyboards these days have .. I find the way the synthesizer is laid out very good, calling for tweaking.
I uploaded my patches to the KVR database as well, 64 in total, a single bank and each patch individually for picking out your favorites (if any). Here's the patchlist:
It has a bit of dark roasted flavour to it.
