Hi,
Is there a company that specialises in releasing compilation albums of the latest/coolest/classiest/cutting edge pop and/or dance music?
Strictly the best of the best. No fillers.
Alternatively, is there a website that lists songs that strictly fit the above specifications?
The reason I ask is that my music can tend to sound dated and cheesy, so if I'm listening to the above, I'm more likely to produce something that sounds cool and current, or dare I say prophetic.

You should check out the best of 2014 lists that will appear all over the place around this time. Lists from recent years should also help bring you up to date. Mixmag for dance, Pitckfork/Stereogum/Rough Trade Shops for indie/alternative and whatnot. Easy to find track on youtube, spotify or whatever, and that will lead you to lots of other suggestions.

That's the advantage of living now. Based on such a list users can make their own compilation, getting each specific tune from beatport, itunes or other such vendors.skipscada wrote:You should check out the best of 2014 lists that will appear all over the place around this time. Back in the day "Best of 19XX" compilations were decided by the "central committee" in the record companies, it's much more in the hands of the users now

You won't get better value than this - all definitely what you would call 'cutting edge' music
