I have finally come to the realization that there likely never will be a full 64 bit version of most Synthedit-based synths, so after crashing jBridge for the last time hopefully, I am trying to say goodbye to bridged plugins.

By far one of my favorite synthedit-based plugins has been OP-X Pro II. So what can replace it? would SEM V be up for it?

I was thinking maybe this could compare with the or2v that is in the one synth challenge, but it is only 32 bit too. One thing I always like about the op-x is the stereo imaging on the voices. I haven't messed with SEM V to see if anything similar can be accomplished.

Thankfully I never had a crash with OP-X Pro in Reaper's bridge...

SEM doesn't sound the same like OBX (which OP-X is emulating, among some other things).

How about this? http://www.kvraudio.com/product/obxd--- ... ds/details

Nevermind the horrible demonstration videos at the bottom btw...

is it tacky to plug my thing? tell me if so...

anyways it may not be OBX but Diva with the Uhbie filter can get pretty Oberheim...and having tried pretty much every emulation including SCOPE synths, I'd say Diva is the best poly choice ITB...

OP-X Pro II works well in Sonar X3 64-bit, doesn't crash when I use it.

I don't think SEM V sounds like it really.

Maybe Diva would be a good one to try out with its Obie filter, it can sound pretty close. Syn'X 2 can get some nice sounds that are a bit similar, but for me, there isn't anything quite like OP-X Pro II.

Since Analoguesamples9090 linked to a demo of his sounds for Diva, I figured hey.. why not put one of my OP-X demo songs here, made only with OP-X Pro II and Battery:

What about Matrix 12 V from Arturia? (oops! already mentioned!)
It is half price for now, but I don't know how near it is from OP-X or the Oberheim OB-X.

Currently my favorite Oberheim emulations (all available as 64-bit and for Win/Mac):

- Arturia Matrix-12V
- Arturia Oberheim SEM V
- OBXD (freeware but sounds like a more or less expensive commercial synth...)
- Diva with the Uhbie filter

Feature wise none could replace the Matrix-12V IMO, the multimode filter alone is insane and the modulation options are almost endless.

For adding more low-end to the Arturia synths (and also others) i do use Waves OneKnob Phatter Bass boosting/enhancement plugin which works nicely and better than just using an EQ for boosting the low end like i did in the past. Anyway sometimes additionaly i also use the Waves Renaissance EQ.

For completeness sake for people reading this thread there's also Aly James Lab's OB-Xtreme.
It's not as faithful a model, but has it's own sound which may appeal.

Not for the OP though, as it's also 32-bit only...sorry braj

So, I bought the SEM V, it isn't the same as the OB-X but that's A ok. I do have Diva and will mess about with the Uhbie filter. It is just too bad that a wonderful synth is dead-ended by Synthedit.

I prefer the SEM anyway.

I wouldn't blame the tool, but I would be asking questions of the developers, like why can't you code a synth native?
