as an owner of several steinberg products including halion 5, I'd be interested in this for a sensible fee that took into account what I already own from the bundle plus offered some loyalty reward for the other steinberg products I own.
but that ain't gonna happen. and i'm not about to buy the other products in the absolute package individually anyway. so i guess, in my case, they're losing out.

Ok I was wrong re aussie pricing.. it has definitely crept up, and the AVSTC2 is around 2% less in AUD than the real exchange rate (which would also add bank fees, so the price is more than fair).
But cubase has gone from 119 to 129 and now 139 for the UG so yeah, the dollar is affecting it:(
So i did something stupid.. i completely maxxed out my CC and bought both UGd's. wow.
I mean i have really put myself in a noose here but the aussie dollar will only get worse.
Plus i use halion sonic more than anything else, and well, the absolute collection 2 pretty much covers so much ground for me, i actually plan on ditching alot of stuff now. I have pianos and strings now covered as well as a couple best service kontakt player libraries, have synths well covered between logic and Cubase - so it was worth it. I just hope for *once* i made the free point 5 upgrade - Cubase 8 has been out 10 months so if i missed it this time I guess i never will get it LOL, as i have never once qualified for any steinberg free upgrades, i always buy at the wrong time.. but this time i really hung on and waited..let's see if i am lucky for once
server is hammering away no issue, downloaded the complete C8 installer as this is a fresh os install, just getting the 8.020 update now, very excited to play with it!

It's been said already Steinberg, recognise that you have a user base interested in your product but you show no encouragement to them. I like many others have significant investment in your product and would happily extend that to other products such as this .... if there were an appropriate upgrade path.
Come on, you know it makes sense!

huh? they provide amazing instruments in cubase 8, halion se is more than capable and has many wonderful sounds.. they are a business, in this case i disagree. They offer a collection outside of cubase, and they are offering an appropriate upgrade path for buyers of that first collection. For $299 aud i just got halion full (upgrade normally $99 AUD), the grand ($149 aud), groove agent 4 (149 AUD), HSO ($99 aud), not to mention those current prices are half of what the solo prices were a couple years back. So anyway going by todays prices, i get an upgrade with the latest versions of everything, and $500 worth of new stuff for $300. Seems like fairly priced to me. Honestly if it's going to be that big of a deal to Cubase users, if i was steinberg, i would remove HalionSE and Groove Agent SE from cubase lol.. people just expect too much sometimes IMO!don1thedon wrote:It's been said already Steinberg, recognise that you have a user base interested in your product but you show no encouragement to them. Not a cubase user, so i dont have a dog in this fight, but if you are using Logic as a comparison to what steinberg should offer, you are dreaming. Apple essentially gives away logic at cost. They make their money (and a tremendous goddamn lot of it) when you buy your new Mac, not when you buy Logic.
For those that own one or more of the plugs, get a spare key and sell it in the marketplace, then use those funds to buy the bundle. Probably get more for Halion here than steiny would give you in a discount anyway. I might do that myself, since i own groove agent 4.

exactly, logic exists and people use it to compare but it's not really a fair one because other devs main income is from their daw's and plugins - apple's is definitely, most definitely not.. They can afford to sell logic and alchemy included for 199.

I don't believe I am expecting too much.samsam wrote:TheoM wrote:people just expect too much sometimes IMO!
Similar to others that have posted I already own several of the instruments contained in this collection (in my case Halion 5, Groove Agent 4 & Padshop Pro). An upgrade path from "my collection" to the full collection makes absolute sense to me and I would have thought commercially.

You can be sure that Steinberg reps are reading all these posts but never bother stating any serious reply to this.don1thedon wrote:I don't believe I am expecting too much.samsam wrote:TheoM wrote:people just expect too much sometimes IMO!

Perhaps the reason is that the target audience of that software is almost exclusively Cubase users due to the dongle - other users hardly bother with the eLicenser hassle.
So if they discount anything for us Cubase users, they actually discount almost 100% of their userbase.

Hello,
Why the USB-eLicenser is not included? Because most of our users already have one, if they are using either Cubase Artist 8 or Cubase Pro 8, to mention some.
Best regards,
GN
No, the Absolute 1 collection also needed a USB-eLicenser, just an example, HALion Sonic was included in that bundle and it requires a dongle.Numanoid wrote:Hmm if one buys it boxed is the key included in the box?KingClarkie wrote:What's also new is that the Absolute Collection now requires a USB-eLicenser

Our prices are not based on the dollar but on the Euro, the AU price that you can see on the Australian online shop should remain unchanged.TheoM wrote:hi Guillermo, I have a question for you. Firstly congrats on the release - for 299 aud upgrade price, to get all that, is quite good value - considering years back when the grand first came out, it would have been 500 aud JUST for that!
However i noticed that the australia prices have remained constant since when the dollar was at parity.. In other words they have been very fair. 129 for the cubase 7 to 8 update, so the same as the us upgrade price. But our dollar is dropping every day to be the lowest levels it was in years - it's the most fluctuating currency around, and we are also the most expensive country to live in.. it's crazy...
Will the prices stay, or do you plan to increase them as the dollar falls? Just that i want to know the time i have to raise the cash.
No, we do not offer that kind of discounts for the moment. I cannot answer you why. We really thank you for choosing Cubase but we are not offering any further discounts for different products, at least not for the time being.tristan- wrote:This is NOT what I was talking about. HALion Sonic SE and Groove Agent SE are part of Cubase Pro 8, they are included in the price of Cubase and are part of the same license, therefore cannot be upgraded. It is not possible at all.
I've been talking about a reduced price for CUBASE 8 users.
Why not giving us any special leverage over regular customers? Discount of some sort?
Either for this package, or for Halion Sonic 2, or for ANYTHING?
Best regards,
GN

well it's not Logic only, I realize Apple is in a different position, but all major DAWs offer somewhat equivalent synths & content. And if you compare with Komplete, I don't see this 500€ bundle as particularly interesting.ShawnG wrote:Not a cubase user, so i dont have a dog in this fight, but if you are using Logic as a comparison to what steinberg should offer, you are dreaming. I think what some C8 users are saying is: we would be tempted, if only for the Mediabay integration and staying in house, but there will be some overlap with what we already have.
Some form of personalized upgrade path (taking into account what you have) could convince me, but not at 500€.
For now, I'll rather pay 199€ for the K10UPG and add Albion to it (on sale for 149£).

That answers the question regarding the upgrade from Cubase. I agree that, although possible, there is no real justification. But what about HALion users? Being HALion part of the collection (and a BIG part, IMO, perhaps the key buy argument) leaving HALion users out of the upgrade path doesn't seem fair to me.Guillermo Navarrete wrote:No, we do not offer that kind of discounts for the moment.
