Scroll while hover over note controls velocity?

Does this sound like something that is possible? It would greatly increase the speed at getting dynamic velocities in Nora. Right now it IMO is the weakest part of Nora's workflow. Pretty please? :D

I'm not sure if I understood you right. Do you mean using the mousewheel to change the velocity of the note when you have the cursor over it?

Post

Yes, exactly that. It would be really helpful, you could adjust the velocity very fluidly as you lay down notes or scroll across them, right now it takes a click and drag click and drag. With all the mousing and clicking we do, anything to reduce is great. Plugin can hover and scroll to change knob values, so this seemed perfect use of the scroll in Dora IMO.

I've though several times in this. The problem is that there would be a conflict with the scroll (mouse wheel is used to move the vertical scroll). I'd prefer having the mouse wheel reserved only for navigation.

However don't worry, I have a better solution that does not compromise the scroll or the mouse wheel and solves your problem even faster :)

Ok, if you say it's better I'll happy abandon all hope of seeing this then ☺

Hey squareheads, I just wanted you to know I finally read some of the manual today and realized that with a few key commands and right-clicks here and there, Nora actually can do what I am essentially asking for, ie. eliminate that extra click when adjusting velocities. Now that I know the commands, it is so smooth to work in Nora. Nora continues to impress me over and over, which generally doesn't happen with plugins like this, usually I get frustrated with complexities or limitations and move on, but Nora is just so easy to use to get really nice, purposeful arrangements that strikes the perfect balance between convenience and control.

I highly recommend everyone check out the manual to learn the conveniences like right-clicking the zoom control to zoom out, I didn't know that till today. A little bit of knowledge made the workflow altogether different for me, like magic ;) Thanks squareheads! for such an awesome plugin.

I'm curious now, what did you learn that solved your problem with velocities?

I'm sure tons of users are missing the key point about working with Nora fast: having one hand on your (3-button) mouse and other on your left part of your keyboard, I worked hard in design a system like that and I'm still improving it, including my new idea for the velocities.

I think that I will rewrite the manual in other way, to show the general concepts in an intuitive way so you will only learn few keyboard modifiers + mouse combos, and be able to manage the 95% of the functions. Something similar to the Navigation chapter.

Oh the right click first of all, just click then you can freely edit the velocities without first selecting the note in the graph. I kept seeing the right behavior when I inadvertently would hit the right click, but otherwise I didn't know it was feature. Then there is the right click on the view icon to zoom, that is just a huge help, it keeps everything tidy. And it wasn't anything wrong in the manual, it was that I simply never read it till yesterday, I was looking for info on markers, though I never did get to looking that up! The main thing is people like myself need to pay better attention.

Basically the scroll feature I was asking for is covered with the existing key commands and mouse clicks ;) the goal was reducing my unnecessary mouse clicks, that is resolved.

Now I see crystal clear which was your initial problem :) If there are selected notes, you only can edit the velocities of them. If you right click, you unselect all and therefore you can edit all the velocities.

I may add an option to ignore the selected notes or do not select automatically the new added notes.
