Hey guys, is there any way to set Abletons default channel volume? I am currently trying ableton live out with their 30 day trial, and am still getting used to it, but yes, I am familiar with the fact that you can set default midi and audio channel templates, set their volume (in my case -10db) and add vsts to them etc, however whenever I drag and drop a VSTi into the empty arrangement to make a new channel, it loads the default 0 db track... Does anyone know how to set ableton's default channel volume permanently, so that it will always be -10db?

thank you

I don't remember a way to do that.

When you load an instrument to the track fyou are not longer creating a "default" track, so can't be done.

So maybe: create a lot of default tracks and replace the instruments.

Wish it could, I run into it every time, but no... there's no way unfortunately.

That is what I have been doing, every time I have been making an instrument track, then dragging the VSTi onto the track. It is not a big deal, but it is quite a simple thing, and a needless extra step in my opinion, I wish ableton would at least give the option, but oh well.

Thanks for your responses everyone :tu:

Maybe its possible to modify one of the script files. This is not something I've ever gotten too deep into though. It would be nice to be able to do.

Maybe have a look at the TrackDefs script: http://music.tutsplus.com/tutorials/qui ... audio-9347

Either way you have an extra step involved. I like this idea but not for every track...one day no doubt we will be able to automate the process on a "per vst" basis. It may be years away but this is a needed feature for sure.
