If you look for kantele, you might find more answers…MIDICH1 wrote:Anyone know of a Kontakt or AU for the Finnish Kantale?
For example, Google: kantele sample library

I immeditately thought "Yeah, I can't remember even Precisionsound having one. And if not, why not? Because it's right up their alley!"
But then I looked, and they did, of course Finnish Concert Kantele, here:

Kontakt + multiple other formats. (Don't have it myself, but Precisionsound stuff is usually top notch soundwise.)

Interesting stuff
IMO the sound lies somewhere between an e-piano and a harpsichord

Extra tip: Properly tweaked (string length, etc.), the Cimbalom model in Pianoteq can also come "within an inch of Kantele" (or other zither-type instruments).

I have three or four kanteles and I would say that the Precisionsound one has the most realistic and expressive sound for me.

Thanks for the kind words.
Precisionsound Finnish (Soumi)Concert Kantele library is probably the most serious effort to recreate the instrument available on the market today and you will hear the difference is HUGE compared to free stuff, its on another planet when it comes to detail and presence, and its designed to make it easy and intuitive to play from a keyboard.
Finnish Concert Kantele also have playing techniques of a more "avant garde" style that is totally unique for this library.

Sounds like our "Lyra" library has been used as the stringed plucked sound.
We are releasing new sound each month almost so check the site out and subscribe to the Newsletter.
Best regards,
Lars Westin
