Looping tools - the latest development?

"Live jamming" is fun - its also a nice way to refine your solo or test sounds.
I´ve got the Live 9 and session view a quick way to do this jamming.
But editing files in the session view, finding the best parts of you performance, is not very handy in the Live
session. And the downside in the Live is that it saves all the crap, too - if you have a long jamming sessions, these files just fills your computer disc.
What is the latest development of the looping software (vst)? I remember (guitar) hardware tools such as the Digitech JamMan which was "the state of the art" back in the 90´s.
What is the best/easiest/affordable looping software nowdays?

I use Moebius (http://www.circularlabs.com/), but I fear it's too complicated too for your use...

After watching a couple of Youtube cases of this one, I tend to agree with you.szalonykp wrote:I use Moebius (http://www.circularlabs.com/), but I fear it's too complicated too for your use...
Thank you anyway.

what you describe is a multi-track thing, hard to do in a single plugin... but FL's jamming doesn't have the shortcomings that you mentioned about Live, and you could always run it as a VST.

Both Cubase and Logic include so called cyckle mode in audio recording: you define the looping zone and you can loop and stack different takes, as many as you want, and all your takes are recorded. You can edit the best parts of each take to the final edition.acYm wrote:what you describe is a multi-track thing, hard to do in a single plugin... but FL's jamming doesn't have the shortcomings that you mentioned about Live, and you could always run it as a VST.
How hard can it be to make this kind of cyckle recording tool ? I wonder why Ableton has not included this very fundamental tool to live (it records all your takes but to a long, continuous file, modt unpractical.
There are market gap for this kind of vst tool.

oh, ok you're talking about loop recording and comping. I thought you were referring to non-linear sequencing for some reason.
well in that case you could always try with Edison as a VST... won't be perfect as if it were integrated in the daw but it might be the closest you'll get

Edison does not include cyckle regording mode as described above. However, Edison creates so called regions, according to which you can navigate and separate loop cyckles. Btw, after defining the region, can I warp/stretch the region, as I can do in the Live? Didn't find this function in the Edison manual.acYm wrote:oh, ok you're talking about loop recording and comping. I thought you were referring to non-linear sequencing for some reason.

Maybe Edison users can give good tips.
So far Edison looks good (if I forget the crashing when trying the drag-and-drop function in Live9/Win. I'm considering.
Anyone wants to well his Edison?

Done some experimentation with the Edison - I have to say, a great little tool.
This started with a simple 8-bar guitar jam session, I added Oberheim bass and a horn quintet of 2 tenor saxes and 3 trumpets. Very robust and unfinished, but a loose feeling liberated by the Edison looper.
