TheoM wrote:ok that's too limiting IMO. I suppose it would work ok with a usb arturia beatstep though.. ie the beatstep is plugged into computer via usb, chosen in daw as midi input, then the 808 hardware is connected via standard midi port to whatever midi interface is also connected to the computer, and chosen as the midi output. I think that would work just fine. Still, it adds the layer that a computer becomes necessary, and that's not always a workable solution for everyone.

Let us know how it goes if you buy one:)
Well for me, StiX midi out --> 8raw8 would do.

But my old QX1 could do it as well for an all otb solution tbh.
Or maybe some midi-->CV units.

I dont plan to buy one soon. I'm rebuilding my studio atm. Takes me as much energy as money :phew:

Think I'd rather get a Yocto with the sequencer.

That's for sure an option, for those who like the DIY journey/experience, and ordering different parts from different shops etc.

the parts are available in two parts, the easy ones as a BOM on mouser, and the hard-to-get ones come from e-licktronic
It doesn't matter how it sounds..
..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD!

Hmm I think that you still have to get the metal case/cover iirc, and those are available during some kind of group buys, and you have to wait several months to get one.

Tbh, I don't need the least the Yocto sequencer part because I could control the 8raw8 via midi, and I've not created the StiX Xox sequencer, wich is light years more advanced than a strict tr-xxx one, to regress and have to build one myself.

Now, the Yocto remains an interessant alternative to the 8raw8, or the new Roland boxes. Depends of what you need, want, and desire. Like always. To each his own. :shrug:

Now that you mention it, a circuit modeled Xils TR-808 isn't such a bad idea to follow up Synthix 2. I would also like to see Audiorealism follow up ADM with something on the same level of precision as ABL3.
