I know there's at least one other one, damned if I can remember who makes it though; sorry.

Just high-pass whichever kick has a weaker bass end.

How are you triggering the individual samples? Phase correction software is a sledgehammer to crack a nut for most kick layering jobs and less useful than simply nudging the samples around in a track or editor (plus filtering, as nineofkings says).

So I only know of 3 plugins that do this job somewhat well... Considering the OP said Waves InPhase is overpriced, then I know Sound Radix Auto-Align is completely out of consideration. There is Melda's options. I just have a hard feeling like I can trust something so in-expensive. Not saying I want to pay astronomical amounts every time I buys something. But I have learned first hand, you get what you pay for.Kinh wrote:Wave's Inphase is wayyyyyyyyy over priced for what it is, anyone know of alternatives?
I use Inphase all the time to align kicks. It is where I start any mix and encourage anyone to as well. The improvements I've gained with phase aligning my kicks is worth more than the cost of Inphase IMHO. Having the low end audible and punch from the start helps "set the tone" (LOL) for the rest of the mix. Which in turn helps me save/manage my time more wisely. Less time spend is more money made. So yeah, I can't say that Inphase or any proper Phase Alignment tool is over priced.

PhaseBug - Its primary function is to shift the phase of an incoming audio signal. This is a critical function in fixing source signals that have phase errors in relation to one another, which can cause inappropriate cancellation or reinforcement of frequencies in a mix.

I think it's only Windows 32 bit. You'll need to check.

it all depends on your samples/mic positions/how did you recorded all these kick layers...Kinh wrote:Wave's Inphase is wayyyyyyyyy over priced for what it is, anyone know of alternatives?
sometimes simple time align is all you need /using any delay or MAutoAlign/...and sometimes even more sophisticated/expensive plugins /like PHA979,Inphase,SoundRadix/ will fail miserably, because correcting one frequency results into damaging another one
so, sometimes only hard solution exist - hp filter can always help you

This.in terms of drums, phase rotation "correction"plugins are redundant.if you want the entire envelope in phase, you need to split the envelope in terms of frequency and match the pitch envelopes.there is no way around it
as Kvaca pointed out how phase rotation works is when you put one frequency in phase you put another out of phase there's no such thing as a phase rotator that doesn't work this way.what those waves inphase etc do is allign the front portion of the envelope with another transient, cause of the nature of how kicks and percussion envelopes in general work does not mean that you end up with 100% positive phase permeating through every single cycle of the envelope
I'll respectfully disagree about highpass filters.the minimum phase group delay will only serve to complicate matters and linear phase has its own problems.the best way is to just treat each portion of the envelope as different frequency locked segments.this method is the one that works for me without fail anyway

having a sample delay plugin is the best way to go about it and you have to export the audio on an audio file track, because the initial transient may be in the correct phase but the boom might not
so you'll have to do this by ear
