Most Buchla modules are between $850 and $1500 there is one $3000 module but it isn't in that system. If I had to guess, that's a $24-30k system (including the case).
It's really easy to spend a lot of money on a nice modular synth but it's increasingly easy to get a lot out of a small system for relatively little. The MakeNoise and Pittsburg Modular starter systems will do a lot of cool stuff for the price they are asking. My modular cost about $10-$12k (based on retail prices), which is still less than I paid for my car and it's an incredibly versatile synth with wavetable, FM and granular capabilities.
I also have a lot of fun with soft synths. It's all just gear.
