DeFilter HOFA IQ-Series DeEsser soothe TB Evoke v3 TB FlX v3

Post

I use toneboosters flx all the time for de-essing works.
Its matched filter is fantastic, so i always wonder how it wil be amazing if i can use this filter for de-muddiness in 300~700hz.

When i treat vocal track, firstly i use eq to cut down that frequency area for eliminating mudiness in vocal track, and sometimes dyn eq works better.
But i bet it will be absolutely much better if one can work with matched filter.

So i wanna find a dyn eq with the some filter similar to tb's matched filter.

Can you please give some advice or recommendation?

Thanks!
SOHN.

TB Evoke does the matched filter thing too, and might have more other features you're wanting?

There is an awesome program called de filter that does something similar to what you're describing. Also melda's auto dynamic eq does wonders if you're trying to get a frequency response to be more like a different reference one.

Unfortunately, TB Evoke has 3kHz - 16kHz Frequency Range. :(

De filter? Can you give me a specific plugin name?

I'll try melda one, But I guess that one is ordinary (but great :)) dyn eq.

The thing I want is real time tracking the moving problematic frequency.
Actually, Surfer EQ does this job (although this is not dyn eq sadly), but tracking speed is a little bit slower than I need and not enough narrow Q for surgical work.

I believe he mentioned this one http://www.kvraudio.com/product/acon-di ... al/details
It's easy if you know how

There's this new plugin which apparently works better than the mentioned solutions for taming resonances, but it's currently MAC only, PC coming soon.

Really good to know! Thanks!
Hopefully pc version coming really soon!
(I use pc :))

What is a matched filter ?

Post

Ordinary dyn eq acts like this:
If level of specific frequency exceed your threshold, then it compress your that frequency signal with the filter shape you choose. (For exmaple, bell shape, rectangle..)
Usually You can see this on gui of your orninary dyn eq.

TB matched filter acts similarly, but the shape of filter is matched your exceeding signal.
For example, if your signal exceed threshold with the triangluar shape, then, it compress the signal with the very triangular shape so that you can cut down exactly what you want.

It induces transparent, clean sound in most case.
Moreover, TB sibalance have option matched filter and traditional filter and between two.
You can set it with 'alg' parameter, can continuously change between two.

Hope you can get it with my poor humble explanation.

Hofa De-Esser does this too I believe.
You can see in the 2nd gif here

https://hofa-plugins.de/en/plugins/iq-deesser/

But since it's a de-esser it probably won't go as low as you want (haven't tried it myself).

Guys, my fault, this is sibalance's option, not sibalance's.
Sorry.

There is a dynamic eq and an auto dynamic eq from melda.
