1) Allowed. OTT has been used in OSC before. Its true that these effects can be abused, and chorus used gently, but we gotta have something to debate in these threads.
2) Allowed. Personally I think some ppl overdo distortion, but that can be dealt with at voting time
3) Also allowed, but you may get negative comments if your track sounds heavily compressed
4) Bouncing is only allowed to save CPU. You may not manipulate the bounced/mixed-down audio. The reason is that some synths (like OBXD last month) sound different on every render and you're meant to deal with that rather than re-render until you get a good one and then master the result. Another way to look at it is that, if your track gets audited (which happens), the moderator has to be able to re-create your track in your project *directly from the synth* without going through a bounce/import step.
5) http://www.onesynthchallenge.org/ is the voting site; you'll need that starting Jan 1.
Hope that helps!
Cruba wrote:I'm still clueless if this additional effects are allowed:
1) Multiband Compressors / using things like OTT will manipulate the sound much more than a chorus (which is not allowed)
2) Saturators like Barking Dog / same reason like 1
3) Heavy Compressors like Distorque Vitamin
Additional question:
I use to mixdown whole project in cubase and reload the wav to master it in cubase. Is that allowed?
Additional question: What is http://www.onesynthchallenge.org/ ?
Btw: Drums are not a problem in Synth1
