I put a new song in my music website called "The Better Goal". The song has synths and guitar. Please tell me how you like the song and how it can be improved. If you review my song, I promise to return the favor. The song at the top of this link:

Interesting sound, reminded me a bit of Talking Heads with elements of the Happy Mondays, but with it's own stylee as well.
Mix wise there are 3 things I thought;
1. The weird vocal effect (some mix of delay/chorus/pitchshift?) is good but a little to high in comparison to the drier sound.
2. There's a bit too much mush (a little bit is always a good thing!) in the mix so maybe try cutting a few frequencies to give things a bit more of their own space?
3. Drums seem a little bit tame for the song - mebbe a bit more bus compression with a fast-ish attack and release to make them a bit more puncht.
Anyway, just a few random observations on a semi-hungover Saturday morning. Enjoyed the song - no need for any reviews or owt - that would mean I'd actually have to have written some more music.....

donkey tugger,
Thank you for the review! I appreciate it. Talking Heads are/is one of my favorites, so I will take that as a compliment! I'm always curious about where people are from when they comment on my music. Yorkshire is in England, yes? Using google maps does not show anything for certain unless you are from West Yorkshire. Regardless, I will see if I can dial up some of your music.
The vocals have delay and chorus effects. The intro vocal has reverse delay (my Korg D3200 hard disc recorder can run in reverse).
I didn't easily find a thread with your music, so I went directly to the link to your music website. Don't know where else to do the review, so I'll do it here. I'm reviewing your song on the top of the new ones ("Things?") : I see you like delay effects like I do. You vocals remind me a bit of Peter Gabriel, who is one of my favorites. Nice melodies, vocals, guitar playing! I really liked it!

I liked this tune and agree the drums could be brought forward and some more bottom end overall would be nice.

Vari,
OK, I just spent about 10 minutes searching for your music, and then I came back here to see your response. At least I know now. I guess you are less needy than me.

Quirky, rather than weird! Yes, louder drums, please. And I like the vocal fx.

Yes, Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. Yorkshire is a bit like the UK version of Texas...Cheers for having a listen and your kind words!aaron aardvark wrote:donkey tugger,
