good point. sadly i have USB controllers in mind. there are quite a few controllers that do not have a MIDI port, and some of them are impossible to get as MIDI equivalent: Novation Launchpad, Akai APC40/20, Laptop controllers by Korg, Akai, etc.

not sure - i gave up trying to find a USB cable for directly connecting Launchpad to BCR2000 - thus my bet is the real problem starts with the fact BCR/BCF lack a proper USB host software (and so the connected USB controllers of course).

I don't think any one makes a device that does that and I'd like to buy one if it does exist (I hate waiting for my computer to boot to use the devices)
The "glue" exists

A workable protocol was created for fire-wire but I don't see one for USB but the "glue" for USB to do that trick wasn't available at the time of the creation of the spec.

oh so many lo cost programmable micro controller devices to make this happen and turn these components into a workable open source thing these days...any interest??? I could certainly use one of these.

You need a brain to use them and they don't, for the most part, work on their own.
I'm sure someone could build a small cheap single-board computer (https://www.graperain.com/ARM-Single-Board-Computer/) to play 'traffic cop' and pass the signals on, but I've never seen one.

A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa. Any Chord has as many versions as it has notes.

The MIDI Expander product page has a note that says it only works with Keith McMillen products: "*Only compatible with SoftStep, 12 Step, QuNeo, QuNexus, and K-Mix."

The other products mentioned in this thread- the Kenton and iConnectivity devices- work with any class-compliant MIDI units.

I guess these 2 are the only ones to consider then. The Kenton can be had for $99 athttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Kenton-Electron ... Sw44BYlMDO and the Iconnect Mio4 which is the least expenxive of theirs is $149 every ware.
