So is Linux!!! :hihi:
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Akai VIP = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Already watched it. I knew about Intel's shady behavior, but this video shows how deep and dirty were Intel's practices. That is one of the reasons I supported AMD for years and will continue to support them.

Well worth a watch.

Most of this world was built on shady behavior.

Watch something on big tobacco, for example.

What I don't quite get is, when the 16-core Threadripper CPU benchmark scores scale perfectly from the 1800X (i.e. they are twice as high), doesn't the higher number of memory channels, which have been considered a limitation with Ryzen, show any effect.
Also, assuming the scaling will also apply to the 8-core Threadripper, there should not be any difference between the Ryzen and Threadripper 8-core CPU's, right? Except for the price 8)

Cinebench probably doesn't benefit from a quad channel memory, I will be waiting for other benchmarks.

If there are 2x the cores and 2x the memory channels, why does it suprise you that it is 2x as fast? Seems perfectly logical to moi.

It does not make it automatically right. I am drifting offtopic but use your imagination and imagine where we would be in case this to what you refer at - was excluded and chance was given to sheer undisputed human resources. Wow.

I dunno what to say about it that won't go all HPC. Anyways, if I go with a new system, and the kinks are worked out (which looks kinda like they are) I'm going AMD anyways it appears.

Here is a new 8c/16t Threadripper CPU with a price of $549, base clock 3.8, turbo 4.0 GHz.

Why would one pay $130 more for that processor? The 1800X sells for about $420 these days.
When the top-end 16-core Threadripper scales perfectly from the 1800X, I assume the same will apply to the 8-core Threadripper. I.e. it will have about the same performance as the 1800X. The slightly higher base clock can easily be compensated for by mild overclocking.

More PCIe lanes and quad channel memory?

You could also buy this one if you don't have sufficient funds and upgrade later to the one with more cores.
