I made these tests because relative long loading time :

Reaper Performance Meter on main PC Windows 7 / 64 bits - 8 Mo RAM), with one empty VSTi track. I shut down and restart Reaper after each test.

NO TRACK (just run Raeper) : 59 MB
Old Zyn : 72 MB
New Zyn : 483 - 726 MB (it curiosly changes). Each additionnal Zyn Fusion instance : 200-300 MB
Alchemy : 244 MB
Waves Codex : 420 MB
Izotpe Iris 2 : 442 MB
UVI Workstation : 132 MB
Xpand2 (Air Music) : 114 MB
OBXD (freeware) : 74 MB
Superior drummer 2 : 110 MB (687 MB with default 24 bits drum kit)

I have not confirmed any windows/OSX memory usage statistics, however the Linux footprint is roughly 17MB for the synthesis engine and 23MB for the zyn-fusion user interface.

For me, Reaper shows around 300-400 MB for a single instance of Zyn. Certainly interesting, as the entire Zyn folder is only around 40.
