The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Interesting, but not unexpected really. Their biggest advantage in their heyday was price/value. My friend used to say "Peavey makes cheap gear, Carvin makes cheap gear that sounds decent." The problem is that companies like Behringer have really competed on that front quite well.

It's just the "carvin" part that is going out. The guitars are fine under the Keisel name.

Other than Steve Vai*, who's the last person you saw using carvin pa/amps/etc? Exactly.

*he has been using Orange and others for a while now too, well see about his stage rig.

Guitar player in one of my bands really liked his Carvin amp, it sounded good. I considered buying a PA amp from them a few years back but they weren't as competitive as they used to be.

But it's not mainstream by any stretch of the imagination. Good stuff, like you said, better than Peavey, but not popular.

I skipped over that stuff when they sent the ads.

Always liked their gear. I wish I had lived near a factory store. Really enjoyed those days of dreaming into their catalogs.
We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.

I used to get stuff from the Carvin store on Sunset blvd. The store closed in 2014. They carried cheap cables when I couldn't be bothered to make them. I still have a Carvin mixer that has lasted more than 10 years now. I picked it, when I could have gotten a pricier mixer, because it had 6 sends and 4 groups on a 12 channel mixer. Some cross-talk between channels but no worse than a comparable Mackie mixer.

It must have been tough staying competitive while assembling products in the US. I don't think they had any international distributors.
I may buy a pair of their PA speakers and some mics while they are available.

kind of from another thread we keep going OT, incubus and I were discussing Frank Gambale and Alan Holdsworth. Both played signature Carvin. I think Holdsworth exclusively played that really tiny guitar with the crazy narrow scale length for a long time.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Keisel is going strong. They aren't going anywhere.

@Googly: Yeah, I mean of course others use them, but what I mean is that they were not at the top of the charts.

Again, sucks that division is going out.

Holy shit! I just got an email indicating that they're launching a new store! I wonder if this means they're going to keep the factory open. That would be amazing!

Judging by what they're offering, they've basically downsized themselves.
