Oh I agree. I used to use dry stage in all my productions. But I also used to change my own oil, alternators, and brakes. Now I am willing to pay for the luxury of not doing it.jancivil wrote:Believe me, people actually have managed ok with VSL dry stage and producing the room themselves.
So you have a great point. We "managed". I am not virtuoso...ok I am. But I am not a great orchestrator...ok I am. Kidding aside, I am not a virtuoso or great orchestrator and I depend on my tools to give me the path of least resistance. I do the music. Let something else do the rest. I know, I know, it is not that easy. But as these tools become available I am willing to fork over the cash to help me get to my ideas quicker...maybe better than I could on my own.
Berlin Woodwinds are incredible and do the task. I have Hollywood Woodwinds, which are great, but plagued with issues that I don't have to fool with with Berlin. They have new products coming out which will make that even better.
Honestly I have not warmed up to Berlin Strings. Hollywood Strings are awesome...but so are the other 30 string libraries I own. One advantage to having so many libraries is that I can give REALLY good recommendations because I have seen the dark side and it is bad. Ha ha ha. Man...all that without alcohol. I need a drink. I become more agreeable with them. (Down to 3 a week now, yaaa me. ha ha ha)
For the record...Hollywood Orchestra Diamond is on sale for $499 (including hard drive). Great price for a fantastic orchestra! (You can complement with great woodwinds if you have extra credit, ha.)
