Home Vinyl Cutting machine: is there anything semi-decent on the market for around £4,000 or less?

Hi,
I got distracted by the internet a few moments ago and found this news about a kickstarter campaign by Australian company Machina Pro to build consumer-level vinyl cutters (named by the company as DRC) from 2015:
https://newatlas.com/vinyl-record-making/35403/
I've tried following up that story, but the company's twitter account stops around 2015, and there doesn't seem to be any active website. I'm happy to be proven wrong though.
As such, I was wondering whether Machina Pro's device made it to the market (it seemed to reach its kickstarter financial target), and whether any of you have used / got news of it or something reasonably similar?
It'd be cool to have my own vinyl cutter at home, not least for my dub reggae productions.
Cheers,
DW

Isn't vinyl pressed rather than cut?

Ah thanks, that's a shame (not least for those who put money towards it, but the company have been very decent towards them, with refunds plus 3% interest).Chapelle wrote:Reading the latest Kickstarter update of the DRC, it looks like it has been cancelled:

I don't know if there's anything like it on the market.
I think there's a couple of cheapo ''mp3 to vinyl converting machines'' on the market, but that would be pointless for audio quality, given the low resolution of mp3 etc.
I thought so too, but this DRC thing by Machina Pro looked interesting in its concept.Googly Smythe wrote:Isn't vinyl pressed rather than cut?

Vynil records are pressed after a master, which is "cut". More on that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUGRRUecBik (a partir de 1:46)Googly Smythe wrote:Isn't vinyl pressed rather than cut?

Lathe trolls is full of uppity muppets, so beware some of the advice on that forum.
At the price you are looking at you will get a straight "no its impossible" over there.
http://www.vinylrecorder.com
Is close to your range, but you will be lucky if he sells you one, he is a complete and total prick, if you say that you have even visited lathe trolls he will refuse to sell, if you say that you may offer to cut for others he will refuse to sell, hes a complete prick like i say.
I went and found a Vestax VRX which is lower quality than his offering, just so i didnt have to deal with him anymore, that was after 12 months of being vetted and him agreeing to sell me one.
There is a guy in australia that is selling a fully automated system but its way out of humans price range, once he sells 3 to the usual uppity dicks on lathe trolls, he will go out of business like they all do, why they dont realise that 1k in parts minus the cutting head does not = 45k per sale, its beyond me, he was originally looking at the 5k mark and changed his mind because the cuts sounded nice !!!!
It is a scene i would say to avoid at all costs if you can, i just really wanted a cutter since i was a kid lol.

Ah, well, that's the only forum I found. The only model I knew about was the Vestax, just seems not to be available any more.

Thanks Bungle, that's good advice and warning.
TBH, as much as I'd like a vinyl cutting machine, I'm not going to go crazy for one.
What's your Vestax like now, and are you happy with its purchase for your music projects (independent of any issues relating to the vinylrecorder fellow)?
Cheers.

I've been a DJ since i was a kid, being able to cut my own records has always been a dream, so yeah i have zero regrets whatsoever, If needed i would even deal with the prick at vinylrecorder, but i would prefer not to.
Oh if you buy one second hand he wont sell you spares or anything either, so beware

I read a few threads on lathe trolls. It seems appropriately named. What is the deal with these folks? And the vinyl recorder guy won’t sell spares for second hand purchases? It seems vinyl recording is the realm of a special brand of asshole. I would love to cut my own records but damn.

I'm new here. I'm trying to buy the t560 since March, 2018 when I started talking to souri and he apparently was very excited to sell me a machine, but I told him that I needed some time to raise money and schedule time. 2 weeks ago, now in August, I sent another email asking his availability and he got answering very rude and now he's ignoring my emails. I really want and need the machine but it seems impossible now. Anyone here had the same experience? Should I have any hope to have the machine? Hi
Did you end up having any luck with Souri?
I’m finding it difficult myself.
