I have the Native instruments one, the IK multimedia one and the Cakewalk one.
Incidentally, my favorite one is the Cakewalk one. Cakewalk however is now out of business... Can't believe they gave this one away for free a while back.
Not an LA-2A emulation but a great opto compressor nonetheless, the bx Opto has quickly become a favorite of mine. Definitely worth checking out, especially when on sale.

very annoying to make an account somewhere JUST to demo something... imagine if every developer would have this, how many abandoned accounts would you have all over the internet?

anyway, speaking of Spice based plugins... DMG Audio released Trackcomp which modeled the LA2A as well as a few others.. extra %10 release discount until the end of the month.

Out of the explicit emulations, Cakewalk's. RIP.
For the same tube opto behavior with flexibility? Presswerk. It's nullified my desire for other compressors.

I'm a big fan of the DMG Audio TrackComp, but I was never convinced by the LA2A emulation.
The Black Rooster's one sounds better to me, but has its own timing behavior, and it doesn't work on everything (it's more "pumpy" to me than other similar optical compressors).
I recently downloaded the free UAD plugin, and I was quite amazed at the quality. Maybe because it's a new toy (I don't have any other UAD plugin), but I find it truly great and easy to use...

You can dial in TrackComp's LA-2A to be close to the UA version by using faster Attack/Release settings in TrackComp than the lines imply you should use. Years ago, I dialed in a TrackComp setting that uses 0.66ms attack time, 35ms release time, 39% brightness. Once you dial in the threshold and makeup, that gets very much in the ballpark of the UA LA-2A Silver. But you'd look at those settings and think "too fast."
That said, I do prefer the simplicity of the skeumorphic GUI on the UAD version. TrackComp's only weakness IMO is how fiddly it is to dial in and how uninspiring the GUI is.
