Just upgraded to the new demo version, the patch switching CPU spike is gone
The multicore support works very well now.
Oddly, I do get slight crackle sounds despite my CPU showing 25% or so, for instance on the CK Trill 7th patch, which is very nice by the way. I think brass is where the Repro 5 shines.

The crackle is the demo noise, it goes away when you have a serial number.

No no, I am not stupid It is not the demo noise, it happens in the middle of a demo noise interval.

Maybe it is your computer, I run the same patch and it takes like 4% cpu in Reaper. This is a 5 year old I7 3440.fluffy_little_something wrote:No no, I am not stupid It is not the demo noise, it happens in the middle of a demo noise interval.
I am using a 3 note chord to test BTW.

I do believe Urs said HQ was only needed on fm stuff, I didn't look at that patch closely so I don't know if it would help or hurt that particular sound.

Remember Velvet is a tape sim and can create noise, particularly with lower gain settings. Then you have Lyrebyrd which can add quite a bit of distortion when not run in clean mode. Then there's the per voice distortion. I've had patches where I've heard some unpleasant distortion and it was always either Lyrebyrd in Dark mode or a whacky Velvet or Distortion setting.

I understand HQ concerns the precision of the modelling, not the audio fidelity - its more about component behaviour than audiophile stuff. I also understand it doesn't make a significant difference for the majority of cases.
(happy to be further educated on all this though).

HQ can make a huge different. I hear that especially for my drums/kicks.
While i´m here. Here is a Repro only track (posted that too with some other demos already in the U-he forum) with my own patches. It can create some interesting and breathing sounds https://soundcloud.com/user-790535032/repro-run-faster
...and some single patches i hope to share soon (if i ever finish it):
