I just bought a Behringer Guitar Link to record my guitar onto my computer and so far it works great. But now that I have it, I want to take my use of effects plugins to the next level and control wah, volume, and whammy pedal plugins in real time while I'm playing.

It's my understanding that a simple expression pedal, like the M-Audio EX-P or the Yamaha FC7, as well as some sort of MIDI USB device is what I need to do this.
So far, I've got the Guitar Link plugged into my computer via USB, which works fine. It looks as though most of the expression pedals on the market have a 1/4" audio output, and the device I need to make the pedal send midi information to my DAW and control the wah plugin is something like this: http://www.audiofront.net/MIDIExpression.php
...Which receives a 1/4" jack and then connects to the computer via USB. From then, the plugin "learns" the device and I can then control it.

But this is only guesswork on my part. If I'm lucky enough to have not screwed myself over and bought incompatible hardware, my theory is that if I plug the MIDI device into a USB port and the Guitar Link into another USB port at the same time, I can record the audio and the midi info at the same time.

So I think it might work like this:
Guitar>Guitar Link>USB port, sending an audio signal to my DAW
and
Expression pedal>MIDI device>USB port, sending a MIDI signal to my DAW

...Is this right? Is there some other signal path I need to take? Or am I completely off the mark? :help: :?
I'm using Logic Pro X on a Mac, and I'm planning to get Amplitube, if that's any help.
(Additional question: Does an expression pedal like the ones mentioned above require power, like a nine-volt battery? I couldn't find much info about it.)

You got it right. Those little midi expression boxes look nice, good find!

I feel a bit awkward asking this, but... can anybody else confirm?

Yes

So my guess as to what hardware I need and the order in which they're plugged in is correct?

Yes, you got it right. Expression pedal goes into the small MIDI->USB box, and your DAW should receive it's CC data, and sends it to Wah plugin via parameter learn.
