I'm happy to announce the release of EARevolve which is the combination of a stereo chorus and a (mono to stereo) rotary speaker.
It has been designed to add depth and/or controlled movement to your sounds.
It is particularly efficient at turning a mono signal into a dynamic and deep stereo sound.

The plug-in is available as AAX, VST2, VST3, AU (32/64-bit).

More information about the plug-in and a demo version are available at www.eareckon.com

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxakCWQ5tdI

STEREO CHORUS Key Features
  • 2x2 lines (2x stereo chorus).
  • Common parameters: Base Rate, Depth amount, Randomness, Shape (triangle/sine).
  • 1st stereo chorus parameters: Delays (L/R), Right Phase offset, Crossmix, HPF frequency.
  • 2nd stereo chorus parameters: Delays (L/R), Right Phase offset, Rate ratio, LPF frequency.
ROTARY SPEAKER Key Features
  • Classic rotary speaker properties (rotation speeds, acceleration, deceleration, saturation) + A/B speed selector and brakes.
  • Advanced "Horn" and "Drum" properties (Doppler effect, Gain modulation, LPF modulation, Multi-band tool, ...).
  • Adjustable speaker size (diameter).
  • Rotation speeds are synchronizable to the host tempo.
  • "Park angle" options.
It is possible to set the position (angle) at which a rotor will be stopped.
Once this rotor stopped, the angle can be freely manipulated or you can make it follow the center of the room or the microphones.
  • Advanced microphone settings (adjustable polar diagrams, Mid/Side mode, ...).
  • Adjustable room properties (room size, early reflections, ...).
  • Adjustable position of the rotary speaker + (optional) automated/synchronizable movement of the speaker in the room.
Thanks for reading!
All the best,
Philippe

This is an AMAZING plugin.

You just have to try it out to see. It's more than just a rotary speaker emulation, you can do fantastic things with stereo positioning, stereo effects, a great chorus, and more.

It really deserves a demo if you have the time, don't be put off by the "Oh, another rotary speaker" feeling that I know will wash over most folks...

You can spin your entire speaker system around an adjustable size room with room and microphone simulation even... If anything, it's just plain fun.

TRY IT!

Definitely intrigued... anything by eaReckon is worth checking out. Thankfully, the intro offer will last until the next pay check arrives.

Many thanks for your messages, Robert and Ariston!

I could not word it better than Robert did :tu:
Even though EARevolve can be used as a classic rotary speaker (or chorus), it has been designed to let us explore what can be done by having an access to how movement and orientation affect the sound, but also on the movement and orientation themselves.
Please feel free to try it on an organ, an electric piano, a guitar, a raw analog pad sound, of course...
...but also on a dirty sequenced mono synth, a hihat line or even a loop (in this case, the multi-band tool and synchronization possibilities should help).

I personally like to use it on such rhythmic mono lines, by setting the rotary speaker part first until I'm satisfied with the movement I get from both my headphones and speakers.
For example, since there are two rotating parts, I can use the "horn" to make the resonance of a filter spin differently when it is obviously audible while keeping solid untouched mono low frequencies.
Then I can tame this movement and add gentle stereo width by pushing up the chorus just a bit.

It also helps me to control the movement of specific sonic events as I wish (such as cinematic risers/slammers/passes/...).

My old friends know how I enjoy hearing things moving around my head but also around my speakers (and not just on a straight line between left and right).
Mosquitoes know it as well... But I would prefer to make them forget about it ;-)

Thanks again!
All the best,
Philippe

EARevolve has been updated to v1.0.1.

Improvements:
- New MIDI assignment: CC#64 (sustain pedal) can be used to toggle between A and B speeds.

Fixes:
- This new version fixes an automation bug in the context of Logic Pro (9+) and GarageBand (recent versions).

All the best,
Philippe

Any other opinions on this? I'm surprised this has been such a quiet thread.

Not much else to say than what Robert already said. It's an absolutely amazing plugin.. but you all already know I'm a huge EAReckon fan so my comment should come as no surprise. :D

I kind of want to keep quiet about this thing because it'll undoubtly be a sort of "secret weapon" in my mixing arsenal.. then again I want Philippe to get filthy rich from his amazing plugins, he deserves it. The attention to detail in this thing is astonishing!

Can't unfortunately post any sound examples or patches as I'm on my summer vacation but I'm sure this thing will be used a lot once I get back to work. Before I left for vacation I did get to test it on a myriad of audio sources and found it especially wicked in all kinds of sound design projects. It's also got an amazing range, from subtle chorusing to complete spin-woosh-round-yo-head mania.

Last but not least, this thing is pretty unique in how you can combine it's various elements and tempo sync a lot of things.

Cheers!

I already read this elsewhere about EAReverb 2 some time ago...
Hopefully, even though some users would still like to keep it secret, the info overcame some barriers :D
Thank you so much for your kind words, bmanic!
It's always a great pleasure to read your opinion about my plug-ins.
It means a lot to me.

Have a nice vacation and a great summer!

Here is a new video of EARevolve which has fun with a synth.
The multiband tool helps to get the filter resonance particularly attracted by the "horn" part of the rotary speaker

Many thanks to Robert who has published an amazingly detailed review of EARevolve (including a video, audio samples, ...)!

I feel honored by such kind words about the plug-in :tu:
... and if you doubt Robert's objectivity about my plug-ins, please feel free to check the following two articles ;-)

By the way, EARevolve has been recently updated to v1.0.2.
Here is what's new:
- HiDPI/Retina friendly.
- New "GUI Size" control that can be used to resize the interface (50, 100, 150, 200%).
- Optimization of the GUI code related to the rotary speaker screen.

Thanks again!
All the best,
Philippe

Many thanks, John!
It seems I missed your message (sorry for the late reply).

New reviews have been published in Computer Music and Future Music magazine:

"Its liberating toolset and well calibrated controls let you get hands-on with a beautifully modelled rotary speaker on two levels, and the endless multi-orbital, multiband possibilities are as fun to explore as they are creatively rewarding. And let’s not forget the similarly flexible and wonderfully analogue-sounding chorus, the silky smooth pitching and rich, luscious sound of which bring another layer of sonic activity to the party.
It’s a brilliant combination and another must-have from eaReckon."
- Computer Music Magazine (issue 262) - Performance Award - 9/10.
You can read the full review at Music Radar.

"Too much you say? Well, if you're just using it to give a synth part a little more depth, then maybe so - but if you're using EARevolve on a significant element of a track, it's a must-have."
- Future Music Magazine (issue 336) - FM|Must Have! - 9.7/10

Thanks again!
