TX16Wx keeps re-saving the WAVs inside a soundfont

I'm using TX16Wx 3.1.1 in a project as a soundfont player. Every time I save the project or even just add or swap an effect in the effects chain, TX pops up a notice displaying the WAVs it needs to save.

Is there something in the settings I can do to stop this happening, or is it a bug?

Sounds like you have turned on "Save all waves in FXB" in settings. Turn this off, and TX should only try saving modified waves.

I had a look but it's not switched on. If I switch it on and off, that fixes the issue for as long as the project is open, but then it forgets it again after I close the project.

Weird. I don't get any behaviour like that with LogicX + TX + soundfont patches. Can you share the SF2 + project?

Actually I think I'm closer to understanding what's going on. I got hold of the 'Ultimate Soundfont Pack', which contains an absolute ton of soundfonts and was dragging in the sf2 files from the file browser into the program slot area of TX in order to audition different instruments. Doing this caused a huge aggregation of wav files being managed in a single instance of TX. What I should have done is cleared the program slot before using the final choice of sf2.

I've now done this in the project and it's working fine.

Honestly, this still should not cause wav saving. But perhaps you accidentally edited some of the loaded wave files.
Pro tip: Use the preview function on the program (rightmost button in the lower part of file browser, then select the slot program dropdown - it should go green). This allows you to pre-load sounds and try them "in action" before actually finally loading them.

Thanks. This only seems to work if you double-click the sf2 file in the browser to reveal individual instruments inside them -- these can be previewed, but they mostly only contain a single instrument.

I've found the way to really clear excess WAVs is to click the 'Clear bank' button, rather than 'Delete performance'.

You can also use "delete unused". It will clear out anything not reachable from the currenctly active perf/programs.
