aurex CTRL is a software application combined with a polyester based overlay that transforms Novation’s Launch Control XL into a truly dedicated control surface for 4 UHE and 3 ARTURIA plugins. The bundle consists of software that transforms and adjusts all the MIDI signals and a hardware layout with all the features printed that you can put on top of the Novation. This works for any DAW that accepts incoming MIDI signals.

There are multiple benefits using this instead of standard MIDI controllers: first of all, the software creates 6 different menus on the Launch Control XL. Knobs and buttons can have multiple functions, depending on the menu you're in. The LED's reflect all these different pages and assignments. As a result, my template gives you the opportunity to control over 200 DIVA parameters and over 100 functions on the other synth plugins on a very intuitive hardware interface.

My script sits in between the Novation controller and the software plugins, creating much more functions and possibilities than other MIDI devices. A simple example of what you can do with this is that you can select LFO waveforms and speed settings with dedicated buttons. A more complex example is the user-friendly Modulation Routing menu, which allows you to assign modulation sources to all kinds of destinations. The MIDI signals jump to the correct positions when needed, so there are no ‘in between’ or incorrect values selectable. You can initialise a patch with the controller and the effects menu has presets available for the different effect types. Because of the printed cover, it’s always very clear what you’re editing and you truly get the feeling you’re controlling a vintage hardware synth.

As a result, creating sounds is much more spontaneous and fast and just more fun in general.
