Just wondering if it would be possible to add support for the AI Knob, which is included in several MIDI controllers such as Eucon, CC121 or CMC, in a future revision of PatchWork VST3. Right now the AI Knob works fine in the latest PatchWork when using the VST2 versions, but not the VST3s (both FX or instrument).

This is a common and apparently well documented problem that affects this AI Knob and the VST3 protocol specifically. From what I remember from reading on the official Steinberg forums, for a VST3 plugin to support this feature it has to be especifically enabled by the developer in the code (something like allowing the VST3 to receive external controls). The VST2 SDK had this enabled by default.

(For those who don't know what the AI Knob does, it basically allows to automatically controlling any virtual knob by simply hovering with the mouse over it on the plugin GUI, similar to what a mouse wheel does, but more precise and handy).

Thank for the heads up. I do not remember seeing this thing documented anywhere, but I'll check this out. Any additional information would definitely be helpful!

Thanks a lot for considering it. The truth is that it seems a bit like a grey area, but there have been periodic discussions about it on the Steinberg official forums. It seems that some developers have been catching on and implementing support for this AI Knob as they were releasing VST3 versions of their plugin catalog, such as Waves, Fabfilter or Melda:

I have seen this, indeed. However I could not find (yet) any instruction about how to support it with VST3.
