I think randomisation of circuit components would be a great idea, all you would need is a seed input + randomise button, and a depth slider. The slider at 0% means no randomisation is done, basically like it is now, and at 100% as much variation as the author of the module wants to support.

I've finished the code for the resonance mod and it's being tested out in the next couple of days, and hopefully released soon as well, and an accompanying video showing the mod done on both the software VCV Rack module and the hardware in the same left / right comparison type video as before. Till then if anyone wants to do the mod themselves here it is:

Regarding module suggestions, there's a few I consider core to most of my physical patching, I do most of my sequencing with doepfer modules. These might also not be as challenging to design for VCV, but add a lot to what makes doepfer, doepfer, for me. These are:

A-152 Voltage Addressed Switch
A-151 Quad Sequential Switch
A-160-2 Clock Divider
A-138m Matrix Mixer

The A-154 and its controller are also worthy of attention for sequencing. Of course other modules exist out there in VCV that handle such things, but few are as well designed as the Doepfer modules.
On the sound generation / alteration front plenty is already said, the A-110-2 and A-110-4 are excellent choices for oscillators. and few doepfer filters disappoint, A-121 is one of my favourites. The A-196 PLL would also be a blast, and as a plus seems like it'd be a lot of fun to program.

Best of luck and curious to what you come up with!
Thanks for these, we want to cover some of the sequencing / utility modules too, so we'll check these out.

The A-124 Self Oscillating resonance mod is now available for download from the VCV Rack page, and here is the video on it showing the software and hardware mod side by side:

If people like the A-124 and want to have Cytomic do more modules then please help spread the word! It takes a lot of time and effort to model circuits in great detail, so strong demand for modules is needed to drive development :tu:

If you are able to look at cloning non-Doepfer modules then maybe ask the Threetom guy if you could have a go at dupeing his MS-22 filter. It’s not like he’s going to lose business, I’ve been on his waiting list for months!

Another vote for the A-196 PLL. I know Eric (Frozen Wasteland) did a version early on but I'd love to see a fully modelled copy.

I've never owned any of the BBDs but Softube's model (of the whole series) is one of my favourite delays in virtual modulars (even if it is not accurate). I think you might struggle to get all the iterations in hardware now though.

A big thank you for the Wasp. It sounds great.

any news on more vcv modules? The wasp filter is great but its not a filter type you'd use on everything, I'd like to see some simple vcfs, or even some of cytomics existing filters in vcv

Thanks lnikj for posting this, I forgot about this thread!

The CF100 is released, I got a bit bored waiting for Doepfer and decided to do a module myself. It's a a 4 pole cascade filter based off the early Prophet synths that used the SSM2040 filter chip. The CF100 is an all discrete OTA model derived from Jürgen Haibles (JH) design (linked from the product page). It's interesting to note that the SSI2140 includes a voltage controlled resonance section which is similar to the JH design.

The filter can be clean and tidy with lower input levels, and even low to medium amounts of self oscillation - so you can get these neat and tidy sounds out of it. You can also push this filter into asymmetric drive, most of which the first two stages of the filters do, which sounds brilliant. There are also right click options for various gain staging options, including output gain staging for clipping the op-amps post filter.
