single sample slice-automap?

Hi, I'm trying to replicate a function of Logic's Sampler to do something similar in reaper.

I want to take a file, let's say a vocal stem, import that into the sampler. Then auto-slice it based on either transient, pitch or fixed grid. Then assign the slices across the keyboard by pitch. I can't find much information on how to use TX16Wx but I've managed to slice by transient and then right click 'layout slices'. But this spreads out the slices arbitrarily, not by pitch, and some of the slices are pitched up whereas others are left at their original pitch...

Any tips?

The layout is always in time order. It also sounds like you have a root key set for the sample, which means that each slice will play back relative to this. You can quickly fix the latter by simply either removing the sample root (clear the root key in wave list), or just set the group to fixed mode (0 Ks. Ct).

is it possible to layout the sliced samples according to their key? So a single wav with a sequence of notes could be sliced and then assigned automatically to the right MIDI keys - or is this a process that would have to be done manually?

You can use slice-to-wave, which will create individual waves for each slice, then assign roots to each wave (auto-detect pitch might work well enough). Then you can just use normal key mapping (drag&drop).
