Hi!
I just wondered if anyone had had a go at getting MSF to play nicely with Live 12's new tuning system. It claims to work with MPE compatible synths.
If so - have you had any luck? How did you manage it?
Thanks in advance for any pointers...

I haven't tried it, but it should work as long as you set the pitch bend range in MSF to 48 semi tones in the globals section.
What's not working for you?
It should work with the included instruments out of the box, but if you're building your own presets, you'll probably need to adjust it since the default is 24 semi tones.Notes are retuned to match a loaded tuning system using MPE pitch bend.
All of Liveâs built-in instruments as well as MPE-enabled plug-ins or external Max for Live instruments are supported for use with tuning systems, provided that the pitch bend range is set to 48 semitones.
Note that instruments that are not MPE-enabled or use different pitch bend ranges will play out of tune.

Well, I can't get it working at all - which I expect is down to user error. I have never really bothered with MPE before, and I haven't much of a clue what I'm doing!
I tried (for instance):
select a tuning in Live
load MSF
turn on MPE in the Live device title bar
open MSF GUI
loading an analog factory preset
opening MIDI settings
select main controller
select main 4 as pitch-bend - turn on MPE
select controllers
send main 4 to tuning (and others)
But that failed to work...
As I say, I'm sure it's my ignorance, but before I spend too long trying to figure it out, I thought I'd check to see if anyone wiser than me had got it working so I know I'm not completely wasting my time!

This should be enough to get it to work. At least that's how it's working for me in REAPER and Bitwig when I use other FX that do tuning via MPE. And I remember it working like that with the Microtuner device in Ableton when I was trying the demo a while back.
Does the tuning work with other Instruments?

Hey, I use Live 12 with MSF and Push 3. It all works perfectly.
I am a bit confused though as to what is not working for you. Could you be more specific about what is not working, please?
Selecting a tuning in Live is not connected to MPE only, it works for all MIDI.
Are you using an MPE controller, if so which one?
Thanks

Hi,
Glad to hear that it works - I wonder what I'm doing wrong.
I'm not using a controller. To see what I'm trying to do, you could have a go at this:
Create 2 MIDI tracks.
Put Operator on one.
Select a preset from say MSF Analog Factory on the other.
Select MPE in the Live device title bar.
Create a MIDI clip with a scale.
Duplicate it to both tracks.
Select a tuning system in Live.
Play both tracks.
I would like to hear the tuning affect both MSF and Operator - but only operator changes.
I've tried all sorts of settings - any hints as to what I'm missing?

Here I do not even get Operator to change. I am not sure what you mean by "Select a tuning system in Live"
Can you share a basic project, please? I will check it.

Here is a very basic set that does what I described above:
The tuning is the new feature introduced in Live12 that allows different tuning systems:]You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thank you for this. We are investigating this now. I will update you when I have more
