I got the VirtualCZ (nice software!) with the hope that I could use it as a sound designer for my CZ-1 but after trying what seems like everything, I'm yet to be able to receive any sysex to my CZ-1.
I have however managed to send a preset from the CZ-1 to Sysex Librarian which I could open in VirtualCZ.
Here's what I've done:
- Connected both IN and OUT of the CZ-1 to my midi interface (Arturia Fuse16)
- Tried the same via a Miditech USB midi interface
- Set the red MIDI button on the CZ to "ON"
- Made sure the PROTECT switch is set to "OFF"
- Set up the MIDI in the CZ to POLY, KBCH=01, CH=01, PRG=ENA and SYSTEM EXCLUSIVE TONE DATA=ENA
- Tried to send sysex from VirtualCZ both in standalone and via Ableton Live
- Tried to send sysex from Sysex Librarian
- Tried setting midi output to both "host" and directly to the midi device (soundcard DIN MIDI and Usb Miditech device)
The CZ-1 can receive MIDI (at least it plays sounds when sending NOTE data to it) and it does transmit MIDI, and as mentioned, it even had Sysex Librarian pick up the correct Sysex when it was listening as I pushed a preset button on the CZ-1.
Anyone out there with more experience that have some idea if I might have missed something?
Or is there some known fault where the CZ-1 just breaks on the "listen to incoming sysex" part of its delicate electronics?
