Thanks man, I´m swapping disks recently and, looking for files is rather destructive mentaly, so i wont do it...i just..... i did managed to get some files back in the day even tho hunting for compressors did not ended up well, could not get the download links and so on. It was a cool conceptbob bobwood wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 7:45 pm Yeah, there was a post in KVR forum about it, I think early last year, though I haven't been able to find it again.
Everything from that media label that is in the file silo repository were opened up, no need for a password or finishing off sentences from the mag. I think it was due to some server issues, log-in issues and a fair few files won't download.
There were about 17 or 18 issues of CM that I was missing but the Future Music archive was a real deep dive.
There's some stuff from other magazines files as well though there are many duplicated sample packs in the Future Music archive as they have carried the same packs over several issues. I forget exactly, but I think I also had to use the web archive to find some of the links and then drop the archive part for the link to work.
Happy hunting. And don't forget to breath now and again.
Breathe!!
Thanks, but no, this is borderline insanity.

It's just a basic Synthedit plug-in.bob bobwood wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 4:29 pm Bluenoise Drummix CM
It's in PC_Software.zip in CM Vault;
https://www.filesilo.co.uk/software/pc-software-cm182/
and don't forget you need the content pack which is also in the download.

Hi ,
Im new to this forum.
Im a synth enthousiast who always played analog synths and some early digital ones.
I totaly disregarded the softsynthrevolution.
Im working with cubase vst 24 since it came out and never abondoned that software package.
My version was the first to include neon...the first vst instrument ever.
since I like tinkering with old computers and software...now some 24 yrs later I want to try out some of the softsynths.
I found this thread and was able to get a few working (earthsynth) on my pentium III / win 98 machine under cubaste vst 24...ver.3.7
Most of the softsynths sounded kinda flat after half an hour but I was suprised by the native instruments pro 53 vst.
I managed to get the standalone version working.
It even opened as a vst effect but as an effect it didn't respond to midi comming from cubase.
Is there someone who has a vsti 2 version of pro 5 / pro 52 or pro 53 that will work on the first vsti platform ? (cubase vst 24 ver3,7)
kind regards,
Dave
ps great to se so many software archived..... makes me think back at the amiga/atari st days. great memories.

Impressed to see someone actually using old soft & not just 'collecting' it... I also got cubase 24 3.7 I kinda like the vintage of it shoot will even play REX (old .rex)... simple to use & takes up no space. Very picky on the plugs haven't thrown much at it yet want to test klangformer in it... A1 works, Astrobelt works, Beast & D'Cota work, FreeSonic & Exciton work, ImpOSCar & Impulse good, JX220 & JXsynth 1.2 fine, Sylenth1 (version1) & Mercury doing well, Slayer too (2 versions), Delay Lama, DMI Flute & Hammer OK as well... haven't tried too many FX yet the awesome NorthPole is good & Waldorf D-Pole...
Nothing wrong with working under constriction just makes one more creative...
I'll have to see if my Pro-53 works in it, I got older than that you can PM me as I don't get on here regular on this thread. What OS you using? I use XP SP3 Windoid... Works fine in that... I use alot of 20-25 year old soft & plugs...
I use old AXS tracker quite a bit have thread here-
viewtopic.php?p=8863378&hilit=Newstyle+AXS#p8863378
Somehow the pack is no longer on archive.org but another is here from a crazed AXS fan-
https://archive.org/download/TalkOrBell ... llPack.rar
BTW my cubase got the Neon as well, wow what a grim synth but certainly one of the earliest... Been messing with the original VirSyn Soft Synth which was standalone EXE (2000) great sounding right up there with VAZ modular & SimSynth2...
Cool capable stuff problem was people's machines were grim spec now one can use modern full-on samples in this old stuff for much better sound I use large kontakt samples in AXS no problem>>>

OK back again I guess only real issue I have with 3.7 is pulling other apps forward while it's running especially DX apps which will often make cubase crash. so I learn just not to do that or if it's a 'safe' app I just stop transport first...
Here's some of my 3.7 shotz-
Using PiWarp DX Effect-
Using MixCiter & Beatmodel AutoWah DX plugz-
Using D'Cota & NorthPole VSTi-VST-

OK the Pro-53 I have which is from 2007 (3.05) works great in 3.7-
So any version should work...
Also Klangformer works great too-
Also tried Big Tick Rainbow 2.5 which is legacy freeware now but it failed scanning & crash 3.7.... So sad>>>
OK adding more on here rather than a new post-
Kontakt2 working great here loaded up 3 SF2 all playing same time these HQ every semitone sampled (30-50 MB soundfonts each) from various VSTi then in K2 added reverbs, choruses, flanger & surround panner... Cubase using only 51 MB RAM & 5-7% CPU in old dual-core XP machine from 2009... BIG SOUND I kid you not>>>
Also NI B4 (the first one not II) work great-
Surprisingly it appears ReViSiT works quite well in this old Cubase 3.70... Cubase & Tracktion are recommended hosts but I don't think anyone has tried ReViSiT in such an old Cubase. Playing all kinda tracker modules in it right now sounds real good better than in any tracker proper. Rendered out a few to WAV as well. This opens up using ReViSiT as a composing tool inside 37 for either sample based or driving VSTi in a quite powerful enviro that goes beyond the Impulse Tracker format which ReViSiT was inspired from>>>

I always thought that the first VST synthesizer was OnePingOnly
-

OnePingOnly probably is the oldest, I don't know... I just said that Neon is ONE of the oldest, not the 'absolute' oldest, that means a 'group' of oldies...
Digging into Cubase 3.70 I see comparing to later versions they certainly screwed things up in later versions renaming & sticking things in odd spots becoming more unintuitive as 'progress' was made...
Plus 3.70 only looks in it's own plugins folder so you can drop in one-two to test gradually whilst VST 32 5.1 or later it hooks your main VST plugs folder from registry which sucks as it was many versions before they FINALLY figured out scanning in any intelligent way as those first later versions never told you what failed they would just blip out...
So far so good & 3.70 has nice step recording I like the 'Foot' button piano roll is nicer setup than in 5.1. I'll have to do some test patterns-renders but making a tune is certainly in the works in this 1999 DAW>>>
Tested Absynth 3 which failed as well as UVI Player>>>
However these with flying colors... Cronox passed so I'm sure Sophistry would as well-

Tested 2 Rumpelrausch VSTi in Cubase 3.70 working fine so the older ones oughtta too...
Really like the AZR3 the MP3 demo tune is quite nice as well on there-
http://web.archive.org/web/200901221329 ... h/?PLUGINS
Cracking on as Rainbow 2.5 failed but Big Tick EP-Station & Angelina are fine in 3.70-
All legacy BT stuff is free now... Curious that Abyss Studios FX work in 3.70 as they are synthedit but they are a different breed as they don't puke out any SEPs or SEMs anybody know of other synthedits that don't puke?
Abyss is here-
https://web.archive.org/web/20021011022 ... lugins.htm
They also work well in SVArTracker which doesn't care for synthedit-
Happily Green Oak Crystal works great in 3.70... I am using version 2.4.8 however not the newest as I have had problems with the new version in several hosts-

Thx for your reply.
Great to see all those screenshots.
yes ...Like old hardware I like to stick to old software as well.
If it does the job for me than Im happy and usualy not looking for new versions or more functions.
I see you got the pro 53 running under cubse vst 3.7
Somehow the versions I tried didn't repond to midi comming from cubase.
I run the system on win 98 se

ps I also stayed with the cubase vst / win98 combo because I managed to get a complete lexicon studio 12 T system running on it.
I even bought 3 lexicon ldi 10T breakoutboxes to connect analog IO's to my desk.
The increddible thing is: the lexicon system has 2 pcm 90 harware reverbs mounted on a pci card that will pop up as vst effects in cubase (while actualy being hardware)
Where they the first plugouts ? : )
Since lexicon regretted that plugin adventure they never updated any software for it to work under windows xp.
I imagine it turned out to be a service nightmare with every win pc reacting just a little different to the hardware.
