Changes in getStateInformation/setStateInformation

I have recently rebuilt Maize plugins on version 2.9.5, but they don't seem to recognize the old plugins (2.2.1) saved state. I understand that these params have changed over 10 years or so, but I'm talking about very basic params like Gain, that should be kind of backwards compatible.

So far I found that on version 2.9.5, the main Gain is on bytes 905 to 908, while on the old version it's between bytes 218 and 221. Did I make a mistake building the new plugins? Or otherwise, is there a method to convert the old state into the new one?
