Deep House Chords..

People;
Im new to the forum and it seems like a real goldmine of information, full of talented, intellectual, goal driven people who love to share even their most treasured production secrets....
(Ok, sucking up over.....!)
One thing thats been eluding me over my short lived bedroom-producer career is the synthesis of a nice filtered chord sound. (i guess the clues in the description, but please read on...)
Im talking agnes / serafin / sascha dive type of sounds....
Whilst i can competently throw together a patch consisting of a couple of detuned filtered saw waves and play a minor chord, i just am not getting the sound i want....
As much as i hate sample CD's, i have noticed that the sound i want turns up frequently... although im too proud to use the sample, i want to learn how to do it!
Its similar to a rhodes, but more electronic....
Assuming my initial synth programming creates a good grounding, what further steps would you recommend me to take in order to achieve my nirvana?
I can post a sample if it helps, but im sure like minded people will know what i mean

Welcome to the family, think you and I have very similar tastes.
Sadly I can't answer your question (but will be checking answers ) but the great thing about this forum is that people know a LOT, and audio samples will help get answers from experts who don't know the scene but will know the 'sounds'.

I apologise for my rather vague description btw, i appreciate a saw wave and rhodes are miles apart, but hopefully youll get what i mean.

I never really tried to make that sound but whenever I listen to it I think 'Hmm, LP-filtered Rhodes' to myself. I'll see what I can do and get back to you!

It's mda ePiano played in low velocity with Ambience for some reverb, Classic Phaser for er... phasing , Transient Monster to make the attack softer and Frohmage for the filtering. I know it doesn't sound exactly like your examples but I believe that it's just a matter of more attention to detail (I did this in 5 minutes). If you take some time, I believe you can get really close.
For example, the filtering should probably start with the transient of the Rhodes sound and the release should probably be removed in an audio editor or with a gate so that the sound is more staccat-ish.
Also, keep in mind that for this kind of music you should probably play major/minor 7ths - put that fourth note in there and it'll sound instantly house-y [Cmaj7 and Fmaj7 in my example].

Your suggestion for using an organ sound instead of a Rhodes will probably sound as good or even better I think. I'll have to try that!
