Here on PC the OSC/filters selectors are visible. I think it's the difference on Mac described by Markus. I'll write a note on it on the Tone2 forum* :tu:

*EDIT: done, posted in the features request section.

!!! :-o
I sure hope so  Maybe it was just a microphone in her pants!
You found out where I keep my spare midi leads

Anyway, a few observations about Saurus:

Overall, really nice, provided you don't push it really hard.

I wish PWM mods went further. It's quite easy to imagine most of the mods continuing beyond their current range. I'm a fan of PWM effects where the waveform snarls up and turns into phasing trebley daggers and then folds back down again. Better than filtering IMO 8)

Sync is sounding nice, however, I don't know if this is a bug, but unless osc 1 is set to the first waveform (sawtooth) sync sweeps are sounding and looking quite glitchy with lots of jumping and jittery qualities. Maybe this is part of the emulation I don't understand.

I like how there's some extra stuff in the mod matrix, for example, extra decay envelopes, noise modulation, white noise oscillator, even a way to filter and manipulate modulation waves. Makes me feel like a 1337 haxxor :hihi:

On the fence to whether I should buy or not. I think I want it, but do I *need* it?

lol anyone really need another synth ? I know i'll be buying them still in 10 years time, because I love them :D
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

So what are the synths that don't sound as analog as Saurus? :troll:
Mine, it's called

"NoPingAtAll"

Its a quiet synth, ideal for tracks with those ponderous moments when only a hamlet will do.

I like this synth. The price is good, the sound is good, and the cpu usage is good. The GUI makes me more creative designing sound (i know it's silly :p). I think Tone 2 have done a good job here.

Agreed!
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

Same here. I got other softsynths that are better for special tasks or certain sounds or have more features (like e.g. Synthmaster) but the mixture of sound, GUI, features, CPU use (even with 4 voice unison) of Saurus are really great and inspiring. this seems to be a true "workhorse" kind of synth.

I have already finished 13 new sounds/presets and i'll hopefully finish a full bank within the next months.

sorry i totally disagree..

that question itself has never been tackled, ever, not once in the topic.. it has only been stated that people thought it was the other, and that Tone 2 said it wasn't.

I want to know *what* it was.

why not?

Because they're obviously never going to say so it's simply flogging a dead horse.

I think 'it' was just hypothetical but sort of ended up hyperthetical.

[e] Do we have to do another group hug now? :P

I bought this (and also Rob Papen's Blade) on the weekend after demo-ing for a little while - very impressed so far. I also own Gladiator but find that a little trancey for my style - this one seems a lot more up my alley

No it doesn't...for funky 70's tracks.
It only uses too much cpu in poly mode with long release times, or stacking voices are more than 2, other than that it uses no more than others.
I only have a coreduo2 macbook pro at 2.88ghz too, and I can load 5 instances even with a pad included.
There are no poly pads in 70's funk either, so you should have no memory problems.
BTW...One Ping Only can do great funk stuff.
It's not the instrument that matters, it's the playing.
I'm sure Saurus can do lot's of sounds.
The question is, can it do those sounds for the market it's aimed at, better than or as well as the competition?
...or at least that's what you seem to be trying to convey.
You obviously don't use Studio One. Even at 512 buffer i can get some of the diva MONO sounds on an otherwise empty project to clip the cpu overload meter, on a quad 2.2ghz, 8gb ram, 750 7200rpm drive MBP 2011 model. :(
Sorry again for the ot here, but if you don't use more than 2 voices of any mono sound , and 5 tracks of similar at 512 (in Live or Logic) I can barely hit 60% on my "much lamer than your" system.
Why would Studio One use more cpu?
That system you have should have no problem running at least 5 instances...especially with the newer cpu optimized update coming out soon.

I'm thinking I will be an owner of Saurus soon.
It does have some things I like, and it's not too expensive, but anyone trying to compare it to Diva, is not wise to do so.
They are like night and day imo.

I made a demo of the glitches I'm getting on OSC 2 when you set OSC 1 to anything other than sawtooth on a sync sweep patch. It's easy to work around, since you typically don't hear OSC 1 on a sync patch, but on more experimental sounds, I'd want to be able to do something with it. Other than this I'm mostly enjoying the demo. See the file's actual page for more description.

Can anyone else repeat this glitch or is it just me? Or maybe it's some weird quirk that's meant to be emulated (it sounds annoying IMO).
